    Door handle springs replacement

I bought a second hand UPVC door and fitted it to the rear of my Garage. The handle does not spring back up so I took the handle off and there is a white piece of plastic with 3 springs inside (please see pictures), both sides need replacing. What are these called and is it possible to buy...

    Repairing external Fascia board.

My wooden Fascia boards are in generally good condition but a couple of the corners are looking rotten. I want to cut out the rot and cut in a new piece and undercoat it and exterior gloss coat it. What type of wood should I buy to do this?

    Repairing kitchen laminate top

I have 3, 10mm chips out of the kitchen Laminate worktop. In the US I see they have SeamFil to repair them, is there anything for sale in the UK to do the same job? I remember the guy that fitted my Kitchen 3 years ago mentioned he was doing a course to repair worktops as it was an often asked...

    Painting over internal doors.

I have brown wooden doors in my Bungalow, I think they are hollow with a wood veneer. I would like to paint them all white. What is the correct procedure? I guess I need to lightly sand the surface to get a key. Can I use white emulsion as the undercoat and then white gloss for the top coat?

    Cutting bricks with a grinder.

Thanks for the reply. Good tip about taking all the half bricks out, I will do that. Sorry for the confusion, I currently have 230mm blade in, I could use that to cut the majority of the way through and then buy and fit a 300mm brick cutting blade to finish it off. I would need to take the...

    Cutting bricks with a grinder.

I am going to take out a window in the garage and cut out the rest of the bricks to fit a door. The bricks are 100mm thick, my angle grinder takes a 100mm blade but the body of the grinder will hit the wall and only cut 75mm deep, even if the body of the grinder did not hit the wall, the...

    UPVC door hinge

hanks for the reply. I opened the door and looked all around the hinge on both sides but there is no grub screw. So I got an old screw driver and hit the 4 pins with a hammer, once they were free they came out easily. Very pleased, thank-you.

    UPVC door hinge

I have fitted 2 UPVC doors before and the doors lifted on and off of the hinges. I have a second hand UPVC door that I want to fit on the side of my Garage but this must be an older or different type as the door does not lift off the hinges. I have put a picture of the hinge in my albums...

    Stuck isolating tap.

Yes I could try to replace it with one of those leakydave mentioned. Excuse my ignorance, when you say 'bung the water tank', do you mean tie up the ballcock and empty the tank or block the whole with something?

    Stuck isolating tap.

I have got the valve free and have closed it off but it does not shut the water off. I tried it both ways to make sure. I live in a bungalow and can see the pipe come into the airing cupboard from the tank in the loft, after the valve the pipe goes through the wall to the cold tap on the...

    Stuck isolating tap.

Ok, I have just sprayed it with WD40, will let it soak it for a while and add some more later. I wondered if there was a special tool to put in between the gaps of the red circular handle and get more leverage that way.
