    Oil boiler replacement

The current one has to be seen to be beleived-it must be late fifties-I can do you a photo if youre up for a giggle.Youll have to tell me how to upload it though. I had a guy round who wanted to put a Worcester in for £1300. (Being a Herefordian I am naturally averse to anything to do with...

    Mounting Boxes

Dependant on the length of cable run and of course load, but for the accepted maximum of 12 lamps per breaker and a domestic residence situation, then 1.5 for the supply and 1.0 for the switching is fine. Identification is simple as you could easily tag each wire with written labels or...

    Oil boiler replacement

Any recommendations/warnings on a manufacturer/model I am looking for a 75000-100000 floor standing unit to replace the current museum piece, which has sipped rather too much nectar in the last few months.

    Blowing off in my toilet...

The valve should be able to take mains pressure by design.Even if it did start to fail, theyre cheap and easy to replace. Recently WCs have been equipped with internal overflows where excess fill is diverted into the siphon and down the pan.If this is the type you have then it should be ok but...

    Mounting Boxes

if the installation was really "clever" you could then have a triple gang 2 way switch.Thats a red and black/red and a red ,blue and yellow (and the two earths of course) all triplicated So theres 21 wires to go into your 16mm box. Make sure its a cheap and nasty switch with small tunnels to...

How many Downlights and a few other related questions?

Just to put a fly in the chardonnay; Two (independant) people at work both curse their 240v setups and covet someone elses 12v systems. They both say the bulbs dont last very long. A visit to the lightbulb stand while shopping at Tescos the other day seemed to qualify this. The phillips brands...

    Inlet valve

I am having the roof done and would like to do away with the vent cowls that go up through the roof. The 110mm Air inlet valves would do this but do you have to still run the soil stack up into the loft or can you put them just above the uppermost boss?

how to hang 40kg .... on plasterboard!!!

I cant speak for anyone else but I find them really good. Two things to watch make sure you have exactly the right size drill-buy a good quality one and use it only for the screwbolts.Bent or worn drills will enlarge the hole and reduce the grip. Also go deeper than you need. This allows the...

how to hang 40kg .... on plasterboard!!!

You could also use screwbolts (Screwfix call them "Multimonty") They are like giant self tapping screws for masonry -I have found them fantastic to use and they also wont crack the blocks and come loose because theres no expanding mechanism...

    CU

Thanks, ban. - thats fantastic. There is means of blanking the unused ports I take it? If its just a case of extra hard work then Ill go with the porch thing as a 6x6 hole is pretty insignificant in the overall scale of things on the agenda. Its just I didnt want the Supply company refusing to...

Ah! - Why indoors then? I would really like it all completely away from the building work which is pretty involved. Ive got a MEM switchfuse ready to go in. Ive also seen service blocks in scr***** cataloguge-how does the wiring get arranged ? theres a single pole and a double pole...
