Gas cooker main oven failure need technical help URGENT

You don`t say what cooker or how old it is. 90% of the time it`s the F.S.D. that`s at fault here,so it could be that the new one is faulty. The other 10% of the time it`s a choked burner or badly positioned F.S.D. probe. Check the flame picture it should be quite strong and blue near the...

Help. My gas fire has been condemned in new house

Flue and chimney mean the same thing here. Where exactly are the holes, are they in the bottom of the opening leading sideways into the walls or are they on the outside of the house leading into the chimney. If the latter then yes it could be expensive to remedy if the former it`s a simple job...

    Gas leak?

I would think the main reason they were talking Dutch was so you wouldn`t understand that they were laughing at your cricket team. :P

Broken Glass on old fire and BBU.

Balanced Flue in a false chimney?

The wall at a chimney breast can be quite a bit thicker than a normal wall.Seeing as a BF appliance has to terminate outside it would have to be quite a bit longer than a standard flue for a cavity wall. Check that the appliance you like has a flue extension available.

The disconnected pipe possibly fed the previous boiler(if it was in a different position) or a fire or cooker.

FLAVEL GAS COOKER HOBS - NO GAS

I`m going to assume this has a fold down lid.If so there is a safety device which cuts off the gas when the lid is closed. It sounds as if it is stuck in the off position. You may need to get a GSR out to free it and check it isn`t faulty.

    gas oven advice needed

It shouldn`t be a problem, most gas oven/hob combinations are designed to work from a 15mm supply. It may require a bit of alteration to the pipe, but your GSR engineer will be able to handle it.

Valve Nuts stuck on Broken pump

If you`ve ever used a blowtorch and are confident enough, then use one to heat the brass nut for a few minutes. It`ll slip off easily after that. Don`t use your bare hands on it though.

    Boiler won't re-light - has a permanent pilot

Over time dust and dirt accumulates in and around the pilot injector, this restricts the amount of gas being passed and thus reduces the size of the pilot flame. With the pilot flame reduced it cannot heat the thermocouple,no heat to the thermocouple shuts down the gas valve. You cannot relight...

    Boiler won't re-light - has a permanent pilot

If the permanent pilot isn`t relighting,it will either be a choked pilot or a fault with the pizzo igniter. Most likely a choked pilot as it has gone out. It will need an RGI to repair it. Don`t mess about with it yourself.

My gas pipe is touching the return pipe for CH

Well an electric oven goes to about 220deg celcius,so it is very hot. But you needn`t worry the gas going through the pipes will be at normal room temperature. The water pipes are unlikely to ever get much above 65 deg celcius. If they ever get up to 260 I`d advise you to abandon your house...

Sanity check for a three way diverter valve replacement

Indeed, personally I would always try replacing the motor 1st.If the manual lever moves freely, then it may just be the motor.Remember to turn off the power at the main supply for C/H as these valves often have a permanent live. I could only go on the information supplied(therefore suggested a...

Sanity check for a three way diverter valve replacement

No,it`ll need a full drain down or a pipe freeze kit. The valve you mention is for replacing the pump, there should be one on the other side of it.

    Frigidaire gas cooker. CPG6050G

Yes it`s a well known fault, but as you don`t seem to be qualified to work on gas appliances(judging by your post),I can`t tell you what it is,because I assume you would try and rectify it yourself.Thereby putting yourself and everybody in your house in danger as you have done by fitting a...

Gas fire with chimney: needs a hood above the coals? (pics)

Silicons, take a look at something like the Flavel Richmond,it`s a very nice fire with a choice of finish and it`s 80% efficient with a 4kw output. There are loads of fires out there to choose from. Some have their controls near the top for ease of use, some even have a remote control ability.

    It is also incredibly inefficient.

Gas fire with chimney: needs a hood above the coals? (pics)

All fires should come with manufacturers instructions stating the minimum and maximum dimensions for the fireplace opening. Before your fire is installed your Corgi/gas safe engineer should have carried out a smoke test on the chimney and after installation a spillage test. It looks to me as...
