    Are Kermi Radiators any good?

Then why do they not give 10 yr warranty like everyone else?. I'm quite desparate actually, so, if soemone can tell me Kermi's are good enough, I'll take the 5 yr warranty and hope whatever has to go wrong goes wrong in the first 5 yrs!!!.

Is it OK to shutoff water mains supply coming into the house

The problem is, the water coming in the house is pretty darn cold, and the house is so cold I went back earlier to pick somethign up and there was a bottle of water I had left out in the kitchen, took a swig from it and it was so cold my teeth hurt..., so, the jacket on the cylinder may not do...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

Guys.. Guys... Lets focus.... I've given the go ahead (well almost) for a Viessmann 200w along with a Boiler buddy attachment - please tell me its not most stupid way to go.. Apparently this has a small reservoir of h/water that delivers h/water slightly quciker than a regular combi...

Is it OK to shutoff water mains supply coming into the house

Would it be?... I thought the h/w cyliner outlet was at the top of the cylinder, so, even fully drained from the taps, it'll be left full of water, unless there was a drain point at the lowest point on the cyliner??

Is it OK to shutoff water mains supply coming into the house

Thanks NewGas. Is there any risk of the mains pipe coming into the house freezing?. Is it OK to leave pipes w/o any water for about 10 days?. Is there any danger of bio-growth of any kind?. I have not drained the CH circuit as the thoguht of air-ingress leading to corrosion (in my mind...

Is it OK to shutoff water mains supply coming into the house

My boiler died a couple of days ago. To prevent burts pipes etc as there is no heating in the house, and temperatures outside are around zero or less, I've shutoff the mains water supply coming into the house by closing the main valve, and drained all the water (both hot and cold) by running all...

    Are Kermi Radiators any good?

As part of my CH system upgrade, the company I'm dealing with has quoted me for Kermi radiators. Today I finally got the overall quote, and I was a bit surpirsed to find Kermi only gives 5 yr warranty. I've done some online price comparison, which isn't really like for like as I couldn't find...

Should I buy Viessmann Vitodens 200 35kw combi boiler?

Isn't another (and probably more major) difference b/w the 100 and 200 versions is that the 200 has a small reservoir of hot water which the boiler keeps warm and hence delivers hot water quicker?. I've really searched hard to try to figure out the difference b/w the 2, and except for this post...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

Agile: I believe, (and correct me if I'm wrong), that modern combi's have a fairly large turndown, and the heating output can be ranged from 24 to 35 kW for instance. So, I don't think I'll be over paying for gas. As D_Hailsham points out, I can have it ranged down later. B&Q give a range...

Boiler Nightmare - urgent advice needed -

Agile, Given the system won't probably get re-instated for atleast a week or more, I wasn't too keen on draing the CH system for fear (maybe just me being paranoid) of air ingress causing corrosion!!!.. having isolated the supply side from the loft, and the discharge side at the pump, I've...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

Agile, Responding to your other post, so quickly, every fromfrom England I meet in Scotland, even if they've lived here 30 plus years, is still a proud Englishman, and I'm pretty sure the same applies to a Scot south of the border... As for spending too much time visiting old relatives...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

D_Hailsham: The reason I don't think cavity insulation is not possible is mostly anecdotal based on the few plumbers who have come to the house in the last 2-3 weeks to give me a quote for the new boiler. However, the BGheating engineer, who contended I don't need more than 20 kW also stated...

Boiler Nightmare - urgent advice needed -

I went up again and pushed the ball valve down, water started flowing into the small tank. I then closed valve on the inlet to the small tank, pushed the ballvalve down and got no water. Does it mean I've now isolated fresh water supply to the heating circuit and can drain the system?. Would...

Boiler Nightmare - urgent advice needed -

Would it be the on this picture: This valve is on the line that comes out of the bigger tank in the loft, where it branches off, one branch goes god knows where, the other one then ties-into this valve which then enters the much smaller tank which has the ballvalve at the inlet (this...

Boiler Nightmare - urgent advice needed -

Thanks Slug. For c1, where would I islate the incoming water into the CH system?. I'm only assuming there is an incoming water stream into the CH side, didn't see many of these system growing up in Karachi :(... So, to use h/water through the immersion heater, I'll need to drain the...

Boiler Nightmare - urgent advice needed -

The story started many weeks ago, but the boiler seemed to be working fine so I was taking my time investigating replacements etc. I think its come to head today at the worst possible time, my wife and 2.5 yr old some return from holidays on Sunday and seems the system is well n truly goosed...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

To be honest, even with my current venred hotwater cyliner, I have to run the water for ~10-15 seconds before hot water starts appearing, I guess dead water doesn't take too long to become cold. Kevin: Is the warm start is a smaller version of the storage tank in the 937?. I currently...

    Valiant 937 ecotec Combi boiler

Thanks Agile. I've just emailed the installer and asked him about the mains pressure and flowrate. Hopefully he'll get back to me next week. Please see the attached calc sheet. It gives an output of 30.3 kW, and I've not yet added the extensions which is sort of our usual hang-out area...
