    Grout residue

Both HG Marble impregnator and Lithofin Stainstop 'plus' will impregnate/seal the stone and also enhance the colour. This colour enhancement usually disguises minor grout misting. The only problem as Jason has said is that used some 'plasplugs' stuff that may react adversely with these other...

Slate Tiling Kitchen Floor - Advice Please

A grout gun is probably a good idea if you;re concerned about staining although if the slate os sealed correctly prior to grouting and washed off properly you won;t have a problem. This potentially could save you a lot of cleaning time. On the subject of sorting/grading, usually this type of...

    big gaps inbetween tiles.

Are you saying the grout joints are 12-15mm wide? If so do you mean none of the joints are equally wide or that they are all equal and that is the approximate width? Are they wall or floor tile? What are they made from - porcelain, stone, ceramic, glass?

Slate Tiling Kitchen Floor - Advice Please

In answer to your questions. 1 Prime floor as per adhesive manufacturers instructions if required. 2 Biscem adhesive is a reputable brand as is BAL. Biscem probably cheaper. Whichever you get ensure a thick bed can be achieved(upto 12mm) to compensate for difference in thickness between...

    Homebase wood effect laminate flooring

I fifth, sixth and seventh it!! Unfortunately, because people choose to buy from the sheds such as B&Q, etc, on the basis that they are cheap, they will inevitably, eventually put the small, independents out of business. In 50 or so years time, the only place available to buy paint...

    best tile prices?

With the best will in the world, you pay for what you get. If you pay a low price, you're generally going to get a fairly poor tile. The quality issues include size calibration, thickness of glaze, qualityof glaze/print and whether it goes to the edge of the tile. When you say 50p per tile...

    Porcelain Tiles

Check weight restrictions in respect of wall tiles. Porcelain being denser is heavier usually. Also, use adhesive suitable for porcelain ie:- polymer modified to bond to the tile. They're also harder to drill - will need diamond drill bit for pipes possibly.

    !!!! HELP!!!!!! Needed Tiling

How much do the tiles weigh per square metre. Weight restrictions according to British Standards are 20kg/m-plastered wall, 32kg/m plasterboard (unskimmed) and approx 50kg (I think) for tile backer board. For large format tiles (anything above 30x30cm or thereabouts), use powdered adhesive as...

Marble mosaic tiles suitable in kitchen / cooker splashback?

Yes, they'll be fine behind the hob providing that the tiles and grout are sealed with a reputable sealer/surface protector. It is not recommended to clean marble tiles using normal kitchen cleaners as this can damage the tile/sealer. All that you need to do is to buy a suitable marble...

    tiling over worktops with gaps

If the gap between wall and worktop is only 8-9mm and your tile is 8mm, you shouldn't have a problem. Your adhesive should bed the tile out by 2-3mm and as GCOL said, just fit the tile down to level with the worktop, then silicone between what will be a very small gap.

    Ideal Combi Boiler problems

Thanks for that Tony. The problem is that the fault has only been happening randomly and the engineer who has been has only seen the fault actually happening once. I think it's probably like someone said earlier that this company are good at fitting the boilers but don't have a clue when it...

    Ideal Combi Boiler problems

Sorry, at work at the moment so can't get model details but will post later. I'm based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. I think the main point I'm getting at is, is it reasonable that they've been out to it so many times and not managed to identify the problem. If I got another engineer to look...

    Ideal Combi Boiler problems

Have an Ideal Combi boiler which is about 4-5 years old and has been regularly serviced. About two months ago it started playing up. Basically what happens is that the boiler will be running and will cut out for no apparent reason. When I say it cuts out, it still sounds like it is running...
