    RCD Keeps Tripping

[/url] Here we go with some pics of the meter & fuse, and a couple with the fuse removed. Fuse looks ok close up, no signs of arcing etc. Thanks again for all the help & assistance with this - its really appreciated.

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Not sure if this is relevant or significant, but yesterday I had a look in the outside meter box. The 100a incomer fuse wasn't lock wired etc, so I removed it just to see the condition etc. Also noticed while I was in the box, that its a PME installation. Now the weird thing is, since I've...

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Thanks folks - sound advice. Had a chat with my friend, who is Chartered, and HV AP, LV CP, is going to have a look. He's basically suggested the same as JohnD (thanks again) so after he's had a look, he will fit a new CU as outlined above as its notifiable up here. As an aside, and for...

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Well I suppose I should thank you for all that... I could answer a few of your questions, but would a spark realy do all that before fitting a new CU? I intend getting my mate to fit a new CU for me, but I rather doubt all you have listed would be checked. Oh and in case you think I'm a...

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Thanks for all the great replies and advice. Clearly this isn't simple, and I think I've exhausted the simple things to try: Isolating each circuit at the breaker (noting comments about neutral and earth disconnections) Inspecting wiring & outside light installations, dont see anything...

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Update: Back to square one ! I disconnected the FF, but the bloody thing kept tripping ! I've sequentially switched off each circuit in turn, but its very sporadic with no positive indication. There is simply no pattern - it can trip every 10 minutes, then be ok for a couple of days ...

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Thanks, Pretty much sure its the FF. Last night I disconnected everything from the downstairs circuit, and it tripped about 5 times. Having said that, it could of course be a combination of earth leakage overall, and the FF is tipping the RCD over the trip limit. I've had a look at the...

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Thanks, here an update: what rating is the RCD? Most likely 30mA or 100mA. How often do you test it? - its a 30mA RCD, and its tested regularly. is there just one RCD for the whole house, or is it just for downstairs sockets, or what? - One RCD for the whole house how old is the...

    RCD Keeps Tripping

Ever since I moved into my current house (4 years ago), I've had intermittent problems with the RCD tripping - pretty sporadic. I found it quite difficult to pin point. Recently, its become a bit more regular, and I've managed to track the offending item to the fridge freezer. The fridge...

    Air build up in radiators

Great advice - thanks. Intended to leave it in for a few weeks. This is all part of my scheme, in preps for new condensing boiler, which id hope to have fitted in around 6 weeks. Just trying to get the system as clean as possible. Next on the agenda is flushing the radiators.

    Air build up in radiators

Checked it just now - it was heaving with sludge ! Cleaned and put it back in system ! Sludge remover was put in system 3 days ago. Despite the clean looking water, it looks likely that there is still a fair amount of iron oxide circulating in the system ! Incidentally, despite all the...

    Air build up in radiators

Only fitted few days ago, and haven't checked it - yet !

    Air build up in radiators

Thanks No - I've used sludge remover twice on system (going to fit new boiler soon), and its always had inhibitor. When I drained the system, the water was very clean, and quite frothy - inhibitor obviously working. Edit: I also have a Magnaclean on the system.

    Air build up in radiators

I have an open vented system, with boiler downstairs, pump in airing cupboard upstairs, and usual expansion talk in the attic. 12 radiators in total. I've noticed that 2 radiators upstairs need bleeding every few days, and wonder where or how air is getting into the system? All other...

Fitting a Magnaclean - Installation Location on System

Absolutely ! & Thanks The system currently has sludge remover in it, and before fitting it, I intend taking off all the radiators, and flushing them through, then fitting new TRV's & lock shield valves. New pump and new boiler will follow in around 6 weeks. The Magnaclean is really to...

Fitting a Magnaclean - Installation Location on System

Appreciate the advice, but to be honest, for every person denouncing the Magnaclean, there a similar amount praising it ! Perhaps you could expand on why you think its the weakest link in a heating system? ASIUI, the problem used to occur with the (red) isolation valves leaking, but that has...
