Preparing concrete garage floor before painting

I've bought Ronseal Diamond hard garage floor paint. Apart from heavy cleaning, what prep does the floor need to get a good finish? I've seen "Sealocrete Concrete Dressing" at SElco which looks like it would be suitable. Anyone got any experience with such a product?

Fitting used house window into new garage.

Lovely condition, newish window. I've got the cill but it's also got a strip of plastic beading at the top. The brickwork is being built to fit the window size. Do I need the stick on beading at the top for any purpose or can I remove it?

    Timber for garage roof rafters

Thanks Woody. I watched my neighbours extension going up and he has a piece of timber lying across the top of the wall and the rafters come off this. Isn't this a wall plate and surely one's needed for a flat roof to help distribute the load on the blockwork? I've been using this guide which...

    Timber for garage roof rafters

4 metres Also, what timber is best to use for the wall plate? I was thinking about 4 by 2 laid sideways (garage going up in celcon blocks 100 wide)

    Timber for garage roof rafters

I'm building a garage and am going to use 6 by 2s to span the width to take a flat felt roof. What sort of timber do I need? Will C16 do as it's going to be dry, or does it have to be treated and is there a certain strength and type (planed, saw cut etc) that I should specify?

    Garage felt roof

I'm going to build myself over ply - looking on this forum there are a few ways of doing it - with a torch or adhesive. One, two, three layers. I'm more confused than when I started searching! 2 layers with adhesive rather than glue looks suitable. Am I likely to get into trouble not putting...

Cost of readymix concrete - west London

What's a reasonable price to pay for 5 metre cubed of concrete to the West of London (Weybridge area)? Also, do you have to commit to an amount before pouring or can you say just pour and pay for 4 if you don't need the last one?

Gliderol garage doors - any good?

I need a garage door 12 foot wide. I was looking for an up and over door as there's little to go wwrong, but I've seen these Gliderol steel roller ones and they're a good price. Has anyone got one? Are they good and do they tend to cause problems after a few years when rolling up/down?

    VOID - please ignore

I've always used polyurethane - it gives a better finish than Danish Oil. You've picked the right stuff. Danish oil is messy and will attract dirt and needs to be redone regularly. I think it's a waste of time

    How to glue polyurethane coving?

The polyurethane one claims to be indistuingashable from plaster coving once finished and this sounds believable once it's painted so I'm going to use it: http://www.screwfix.com/prods/73243/Building/Coving-and-Dado-Rail/Supercove-Lightweight-Coving-12-x-2m-Pack What adhesive should I use...

    Damp proofing a wall.

Hi guys: Wavetrain - re: DPC heights, type, checking etc. It's an 1890s property - it wasn't built with a DPC Foxhole: We've checked the items you listed. Accepted, that it's currently very wet and cold. I was very dubious when we put in the silicone cream that it would do a lot. The...
