    Noisy toilet/bubbling

Hi, I would imagine this is a common problem so I did a search but couldnt find anything. The problem is that when the bath water is emptied, the water in the loo starts bubbling and gurgling. If I flush the loo at the same time, it will fill right up to the top, then the basin starts...

    New Bathroom

My back aches, my arms ache and my head aches, but Ive managed to complete my bathroom. Wall mounted taps, DIY whirlpool bath, new basin, concealed loo and moved radiators all added to the hassle. Not to mention the fact that the room is just 5ft x 7ft and theres no room to swing a cat. It...

Another boring post from secure about mobiles....

My nokia has bluetooth on it. Im a bit c**p when it comes to technical things like complex mobile phones so my mate turned it on and showed me what it does. One night in the pub, my phone lights up and says "receive file from Lisa?" or something so I thought, well, I dont know who Lisa is, but...

Hello, We are refitting the bathroom. Last year we had central heating put it with a combi boiler so the immersion heater in the bathoom was removed. The plumbers left 2 cables, one economy7, the other, daytime electricity. When we had the kitchen installed, the electrican removed the...

    ebay experiences

I remember watching this edition of the money programme on BBC2. It was about Ebay and it was called "money for old rope". The presenter went to some beach somewhere and collected a bag load of old rope that the tide had washed up. He then put it up for sale on Ebay. I couldnt believe it...

Smoking. I stopped smoking fags about a year ago but its the same old story. Started eating more, drinking more, my fingers got bored and I craved a fag. So, I started smoking cigars instead. They are b****y expensive but I thought Id be able to have a couple a month and be satisfied. Now, I...

    ebay experiences

Good if you're buying, theres just about everything you could want, personally Ive only had one problem with someone but got my money back via Paypal. Selling is a different matter. Ebay ban and suspend people all the time, me included, for violating their policies. I wrote to their head...

    Shower fitting

Thanks Ron, Similar idea to me, I dont know why they didnt make the thread a bit longer, then it would be much easier, or even better, have a collar that covers any holes in tiles etc. Anyway, thanks.

    Shower fitting

Hi, This is a picture of my shower fitting... http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img13780hw.jpg As you see there are 2 threaded parts, the bottom one is for the hose and the back one is the water supply from the shower valve. My question is, whats the best way to secure and plumb...

    Is this safe??

I think I should have mentioned that the shower isnt an electric one, so my concern would be the need to have water pipes so close to any cables, for example, if a pipe leaked. Judging by your answers, this would still be OK would it?? Thanks.

    Is this safe??

What id like to know is if the following would be safe. We have a stud wall separating the bathroom from the hallway. On the hallway side of the wall there is a light switch with the cable running up inside the stud wall to the loft. Inside the bathroom I want to fit a new shower but the...

    Whirlpool bath

Hello, Having just bought a whirlpool bath I need to just confirm that the wiring I intend to do is correct. The cable from the pump is nothing more than 3C+E flex. The pump is rated at 3.5amps. Im thinking that I will connect the pump into a waterproof junction box on the wall inside...

    Pushfit on compression

What I mean is the taps Ive got have a 22mm compression fitting attached so you would normally attach 22mm copper pipe to the fitting itself. The compression fitting is part of the taps. What I was wondering was, can I remove the nut and the olive from the fitting so it exposes the thread and...

    Pushfit on compression

Hi, Quick question. I have new taps with 22mm compression fittings (like a stop cock). Can I remove the nut and olive and use 22mm pushfit tap connectors instead, or would it leak?? Thanks.
