Leaking inwards-opening UPVC windows - what to do?

The sash is the opening window frame, the drainage holes should be underneath on the outer edge of this frame.

Leaking inwards-opening UPVC windows - what to do?

Although you can get externally glazed, it is not very common nowadays and only cheap windows ( which Liniar are not ) or if specified. It would take me less than a minute to quietly remove your glass and be in your house without you knowing if I was that way inclined. Well done to...

UPVC double glazing draught solution advice - warped frame

Ideally if you can get some pictures up would help. Sounds as if your bay may have dropped but really need to see to be able to help. A sure sign will be cracks at the sides of your bay brickwork/render.

Leaking inwards-opening UPVC windows - what to do?

Totally agree with you Gazman. it just annoys me that people get paid to do a job and don't bother to learn it. Everyone makes mistakes (I'm just as bad, forgetting to order a frame on our last job  ) but they need to put it right.

Window opens too easily - solutions?

It should be right at the top of the casement, right on that corner bit that's too dark to see :?

Leaking inwards-opening UPVC windows - what to do?

Gazman's right about fixing it but I think the point is they messed up your order. I'd complain, the industry needs shaking up and if you hadn't of noticed it then it could have done some real damage. It's up to you but if you attempt to re-drill the holes and make a mistake it will be down to...

Leaking inwards-opening UPVC windows - what to do?

Have a look at the underside of the sash, if the drainage holes are on the room side of the sash then it's just a normal window turned round. Plus if there's no drainage holes in the frame to the outer edge then it's a definite give away. It should also be faced drained if there's no cill, again...

    double glazing

First off I'd check your finance for what recourse you have, Everest now don't care because they have been paid and you now owe the finance company. If you want an independent inspection then you have to expect to pay for it, if you think about it, if they pay for it then they'll want someone...

    New windows, poor fitting…..

I'm going to brutally honest and upset everyone here. They could have been measured a lot better, if it takes knocking off a bit of plaster or render to get a proper measurement then that's what it takes. A few add ons to make up the gaps and neatly trimmed or replastered. BUT...

    Secondary Glazing for Noise Reduction

Hi Al, I think it will improve your situation but not to the extent your hoping for. I know the boys at Tubeway, have a word with them and see what they suggest, they are a straight bunch and should be able to help you out.

    uPVC Beading

Get a new chisel scraper, sometimes it may take two scrapers to help ease out the bead. Not all beads come out the same but generally for internally glazed firmly push the scraper into the gap between the bead and frame roughly in the centre of the sash. Once it's in ease it to one side keeping...

New patio door dimensions do not match

Your measurement will be from the outside normally. Take it from the edge of your existing frame to get it spot on. The ones sold in Wickes etc will be a standard size so don't be surprised if they don't match.

    sliding polycarbonate roof

Either a decent l shaped bracket screwed down into the end of the bar in the track ( make sure the screws are on the outside of your conservatory :) ) or maybe a flat plate screwed into the end that will hold both sheets in place. I've seen in the past where someone has screwed a large screw...

    rain damage to window cills

To take out your window would involve basically re-fitting it and at the age they are there's no guarantees that bits may not break, rendering it in a worse state than before. Replacement parts are usually easy to find but the profile will not be readily available, if at all. If your...

    rain damage to window cills

The seal between the window and cill has more than likely failed. It would only have been a mastic line but after all this time I would suspect that it is no longer doing it's job or the amount of rain has just overwhelmed it. Without taking the window out you will not be able to seal it and...

Cutting a hole in a glass door

You MUST have toughened or laminated glass in your door. Think of the consequences especially if you are weakening the integrity of an old pane of glass which may not be safety glass. Yes it may be expensive to change but is it worth the risk if you don't? :?
