    Insulating inside roof, ventilation needed???

Hi ibruceuk yes you should have ventilation - especially as insulating the roof will make condensation more likely. Soffit vents should => 25000mm2/m (check with the maker of the vents for the capacity of the vents) Circular vents only provide about 6000mm2/m if installed @ 400mm c/c -...

    Correct or not

This gives the LA the authority to carry out tests on the building work. It is likely to be used to allow the authority to show that works are unacceptable (e.g testing concrete strength in a slab if it is thought to be an unsuitable mix)to support any prosecution. Testing work tends to be...

    Correct or not

oops?......the law doesnt say that does it? i thought that was an interpretation of the law by opdm which differs to that of the guidance ive seen from labc's - so currently stands as one of the arguable points of the legislation 'P1 Reasonable provision shall be made in the design...

You dont need to be on a self certification scheme to be able to test the installation - anybody with suitable knowledge, training and experience can test. Many electricians who are able to do this are not on any of the self cert schemes. But many LABC's will ask for evdence of the testing...

    Depth of damp proof membrane

i can think of 3 locations - (remember that the dpm is only a thick polythene or liquid bitumen applied ontop of the slab) 1. directly ontop of the concrete slab. 2. directly below the slab. 3. directly below the insulation (around 50mm for that era)which is below the slab. OR do you...
