Does that apply to SKY because they just installed my SKY+ with white cable or is it ok as they use a different type of cable.

    moving BT junction box

For information to you and others i thought i would let you know that i have found this CW1308B cable for about £1 a metre. http://www.minitran.co.uk/pages/products/list.mhtml?ct=5&sc=31

    moving BT junction box

The only trouble is that i need to connect it to the BT cable under the guttering outside and run it down the outside wall to come in by the front door to the BT socket. Would it be ok for this ?

    Don't know house alarm code.....help !

Ah Ha, Just found another bit in the manual about placing a small jumper link onto another position on the main pcb and removing the batteries and the power. This seems more reasonable and no need to contact the manufacturer. Only one problem though, will the alarm sound if i remove the cover...

    moving BT junction box

Thanks Breezer, although Maplins reckon that you cant use the CW1308 cable outside (in their FAQ's). I notice on another post here that it says that you can use the CW1308 cable outside but not inside.......hence the confusion. Apparently the CW1308B is the prefered choice but Maplins dont seem...

    moving BT junction box

Hi, I also need to move my BT socket and also have twin core cable coming down from the junction box on my outside wall. Thanks for the pointer on the cable type to use (CW1308B), but could you please confirm if this cable is ok for outside use, ie coming down the wall from the junction box on...

    Don't know house alarm code.....help !

Thanks for your reply plugwash. I do have the engineers manual and it does say about resetting it, the only thing is that it then says that i would have to call the manufacturer to complete the reset and i don't want to have to pay them to come along and push a button. Is this the normal way to...

    Don't know house alarm code.....help !

Hi all, I've recently moved house and found that i don't have the code for the house alarm and neither does the previous owner (he never used it!). Is there any way that you know of where i can overide it and reset it somehow. The alarm is a "C&K Securitech Active 5" unit. Many thanks Carl

Concrete floor producing puddle by drain when rains

I think we have a manhole cover under the tongue and groove floor in the kitchen. This would then line up with the one in the neighbours back garden. It wouldn't be easy to lift it though as the floor goes under all the kitchen units. When we had the survey done, it said that we had right of...

Concrete floor producing puddle by drain when rains

All i can is its black looks like it has been painted onto the floor and seals the pipes to the floor, also its slightly soft ie you can put your finger nail into it.

Concrete floor producing puddle by drain when rains

Hi all, I have recently moved and in the garage (right next to the house) the rain water goes into a sealed drain (sealed by mastic). All has been ok until it rained really heavy the other day and i walked into the garage to see a puddle lying on the ground right next to the drain. I checked...

    Radiator thermostat valve never off

Hi all, One of my radiators never seems to turn off. It has an adjustable thermostat valve which i have set to the snow option but it still remains on. Is there any sort of internal adjustment in the valve or does it mean that i need to drain the system and replace the valve?? thanks, Carl

Help using Rapitest DM25 (volt tester)

Bear in mind that i have no boiler pcb experience, although i can tell you how to use a meter. To measure 24 VDC... V_ is Volts DC (batteries, circuits) V~ is Volts AC (mains voltage) Set your meter to V_ You then need to choose the next level up from what you want to measure...

Combi pilot flame keeps going out

OK so i checked both electrodes and both are 5mm above the burner and in the flame path. Then checked the resistance of the both spark & flame detection electrodes, both are short circuit, zero ohms. I then managed to find the in series resistors on the pcb, there's actually two in series...

Combi pilot flame keeps going out

So are you saying that the left hand electrode is the ignition (sparking one) and the right hand one is the flame sensor. Also i'm not exactly sure what the definition is of "lockout". Sorry for my lack of understanding of boiler phrases, this is the first time i have had to look inside one...

Combi pilot flame keeps going out

Baxpoti, if you mean the electrodes (as they're called in the service manual) then they do both appear to be in the flame although its a bit hard to tell properly. A bit more information though, i just noticed that the left hand of the two electrodes continuously sparks for the 10 seconds...

Combi pilot flame keeps going out

I watched the flames through the window in the front (main front cover removed) and while the CH was on and it lights for 10 secs then goes off, lights again for 10 secs etc etc. I noticed that the flames seem to start properly and then as the seconds increase up to 10 the flame seemed to get...
