Problem solved. Turned out to be a seized :P pump

Can you help? After the CH has been running for a short time hot water/steam is being discharged to the expansion tank creating a lot of steam and noise.and the assisiated pipework becomes very hot. Is it possible that the motorised valve feeding the CH is not opening fully creating backpressure...

I am going to replace my old bathroom suite and have found that the pipe work is old imperial ¾ inch and ½ inch. Can someone please advise me on how to convert these pipes to 22mm and 15mm before I cut them?
