I'd had it at 20. Tonight i dropped it to 15 to see if that will help.

Vaillant 637 I believe these have a count down timer that can be altered, based on temperature.

Ok so I now have vsmart as my controller. 22 rads all on one zone. Megaflo 250 l cylinder. Loft insulation excellent, cavity walls ok. Cycling occurring on CH. Here's a scenario: Outside temp 12 degC Inside temp 20 degC Target temp 21 degC So, as inside temp is close to target temp (only 1...

I'm getting it a lot. Just been reading a bit about modulation ratios. Mine probably doesn't go very low.

You responded whilst I was entering my last post, so no I hadn't seen it at the time of writing. Val 637

So surely the boiler could sense it's about to stall and then up the gas accordingly?

Ok what I'm saying is, I get that there's a count down timer initiated and needs to elapse before the boiler will fire up again; and that the period during this countdown occurs is labelled anticycling mode. What i don't get is why does the boiler enter this state in the first place. Why...

Thanks, I believe I do understand what the anticycling mode is. What I'm trying to understand is what causes or why a boiler enters this state in the first place. I take it a number of parameters need to exist for the process to start. Is there a simple way to describe it?

So Tmax is set by dial on front of boiler or from fancy weather comp. device. When boiler reaches setpoint and roomstat still not at desired temp, boiler goes into anti cycling? Am I right so far?

Dew point!! More jargon!! I'm looking that up now!! Is there a glossary somewhere that lists all these buzz words and describes how boiler controls operate?

So I thought when flow temp reaches the setpoint (and there is still call for heat), the boiler simply goes into condensing mode?

I take it boiler set point is different to flow temp?

So nothing to do with flow/return differential? I'm just trying to find info on Tmax.

Is something missing on my Megaflo?

No worries, I see where you're coming from.

I know this is an old thread but I have the same question. When/why do boilers go into anticycling mode? My understanding is it happens when the return temp is too close to the flow temp. (i.e. not enough of a differential between the two flow temps) Is that right or is it far more complicated...

Is something missing on my Megaflo?

Yea fair enough. I may get a supply put in for it in the future whilst I'm doing other work. Thanks for the help.

Is something missing on my Megaflo?

I'm not confused (except the part where you said my immersion heater in missing.) And I can't imagine any professional being happy about coming round to say, "you don't need to do anything unless you really want your immersion heater available as a back up." Much better to ask simple questions...

What are the copper rods that are inserted into the holes?

Is something missing on my Megaflo?

I'm missing the immersion heater? I assumed the tank would have come with one fitted inside? So I need a heater, a thermostat and presumably a suitably sized power supply to it?
