    Vaillant vSmart to replace VRT392

Is your boiler output modulating down to such a low flow rate? Do you have the VRC470f installed?

You mean the VR900? Can't find anything on it. It's not available in the UK?

    Vaillant vSmart to replace VRT392

Hi Guys. How are people finding the vSmart? I'm considering one for my setup. Vaillant ecoTech system boiler on an S Plan (one heating zone and one cylinder). How does the vSmart interact with the motorised valves? Do you need a VR65 module too or do you simply set the existing timecontroller...

Aren't we supposed to set it at 60 deg C to kill off bacteria?[/b]

Agree with that, but I'm wondering what are the other drawbacks of having an oversized boiler. Surely most people with a system boiler at some time or another only heat the cylinder. Are all of us with a system boiler having the issue I'm having? For example, let's say that the heatloss...

I'm pretty sure I don't get the stop starting with my heating though.

So what are the issues of having an oversized boiler? (other than the cylinder thing discussed here.) Presumable, the bigger boiler costs more to purchase and then to run too? Are we essentially comparing a Corsa to Rolls Royce: Both will get to 70 mph (or deg C!!) but the Corsa will be...

Just been looking at how to work out heat loss from a room and using U values etc. Can't see that my installer did any of that. I might well go round the house and work it out for each room, but probably not worth it now as it won't change the fact that there's a 37kW boiler on my wall...

Wow. My last house was a small 4 bed house and I'm sure that had a 24kW system boiler in it. I doubt the guy that installed my 37kW boiler did any heat loss calcs at all. Are we still saying mine's oversized? 23 rads in total and 250 litre cylinder.

This week, I will try and get into the menus and have a play around with them. I need to do a bit of reading on it all first though. But is my boiler actually oversized for the house? Using the calc David937 suggested, 23 rads x 1.4kW comes out at 32.2kW Vaillant do a 30kW and a 37kW...

OK so I need to work out the heat load/losses of the house. Don't suppose that's a straight forward job, is it? Let's just make sure I've properly explained my problem. Time clock fires boiler up to heat cylinder. It runs at full pelt (maximum noise) for about 35 mins. Then: 1) The...

Are you saying that I drop it down to 16kW during the summer months and then take it back to full speed during the winter or just leave it at 16kW all year round? Agreed, 100% Is that all? I thought they were supposed to provide better savings then that as the boiler is mainly operating...

Oh ok, I hadn't realised the weather compensator needed a Vaillant cylinder too. So that's out. With regards to the d setting thing. Wouldn't that invalidate my warranty if I tinkered with it? Or are you saying I get an engineer to tinker with it?

Anti Cycling mode on hot water only

Agreed, but my concern is the life of my boiler might be even shorter due to this. Do you guys like weather compensators? Would that help my situation? I'm sure I read that the Vaillant weather compensator sets boiler to max temp for heating the cyclinder and then adjusts the temp for the...

Anti Cycling mode on hot water only

There are 23 rads, 4 of which are towel rads. My installer is useless. No point in involving them any further. When I asked about this, I got a shrug of the shoulders and a, "will come back to you on that one." We all know what that means!! FWIW this company is listed on the Vaillant...

Anti Cycling mode on hot water only

I see what you mean. My boiler does have two temp dials on it (1 for water, 1 for heating), but I believe the one for hot water doesn't actually do anything as I have a system boiler not a combi. (i.e. vaillant use a generic controller for all their boilers). So 2 questions: If I crank...

Anti Cycling mode on hot water only

I think I see what you mean. So when the heating is on, the cyclinder stat probably reaches temp and shuts off the HW valve? But when the heating is off, the boiler goes into anti cycling mode because the return temp is too close to the flow temp? Consequently preventing the cylinder stat...

Any idea what I should be checking for? Or, what can I expect an engineer to do if they come and inspect?

It's a big 5 bed house so went for a biggest vailliant do. We had the system installed about 3 years ago, not sure if any heat loss calcs were done. Who would do that, the heating company? I have the hot water timer to come on for an hour in the morning, but at this time of year the heating...
