Need help on a loose lintel and plastering around window

Bit of an update on this. Today i scraped out all the old mortar from above the lintel. Then mixed up some new mortar and squashed it all back in as best i could and whilst it was still wet i packed up the lintel with slate which then squashed in the mortar abit more so its all nice and tight...

    USB Plug Sockets

I have 3 Double Screwfix BG ones in my house, 2 in my bedroom and 1 in the kitchen. All work really well and fit well too. One thing i will say though is if for example you plug in a big adapter plug in to the 240v socket it overlaps the switch so its constantly on as you cant push the switch.

Need help on a loose lintel and plastering around window

Ok yeah that makes sense. So it needs to be taking the weight off the top piece of wood. What if i scrape the old mortar out and fill it all with new mortar then before it sets hard pack the lintel from the bottom which will squash the mortar tight against the top piece? Or will filling it...

Need help on a loose lintel and plastering around window

I am currently decorating our back bedroom and came to the wall with the window fitted. All the plaster around the window frame was very loose and also abit of mould on the top left corner. So after a quick google i decided to remove the lot and do a proper job rather than having to redo it a...

Replacing a window with patio doors, few questions

I agree the render on the outside looks a mess, why its been done i dont know. There may be a reason for it but theres only one way to find out so i will chisel it all off and go from there. Just went out and had another look and you can see the soldier bricks just under the edge of the render.

Replacing a window with patio doors, few questions

Yes they are hinged doors. I did notice the pipe right there but the doors should just be able to open enough for it not to be a problem (hopefully). Oh and forgot to put apparently the house is about 50 years old.

Replacing a window with patio doors, few questions

Here are some pics: Somebody has put cement all the way round the window for some reason, but there are bits like this all round the garden and house, the neighbour reckons the last owner was mad on cement and so covered everything in it! That is the inside. We pulled the curtain rail...
