    Screeding new extension floor

I would like to expand a little on this question guys. Slightly off topic but here goes. So i had a chat with a couple of companys about the screed. The one bloke basically said that, having the extra work/screed done on the old kitchen sise will only add another £100-150 to the bill. As he...

    Screeding new extension floor

We have had a re-think over all this. I have talked myself into digging our old kitchen floor up, and having the whole floor screeded as one pumped. I didnt think screeding with sand and cement was so hard but after searching on here, seems most people hated doing it. Also the ufh is on the...

    Screeding new extension floor

Hey pal, thanks for the reply! Merry christmas! Yes i will be using a dehumidifier as the walls could do with a dry out too. Well, i had thought about ufh, but i would need to dig up the old kitchen floor, and also was not sure as we may lino it or laminate with the composite stuff. Theres no...

    regs on casement glazing fitting

After speaking to a local renderer who i am interested in giving the rendering job to, he has said the render is about 10mm on fresh block. So i dont think theres a need for the knock on syrips after all. And were on the same page in terms of fixing so i think i am happy!

    regs on casement glazing fitting

Thanks guys. I figured that may be the case. Woody, why would it look odd from inside? The reveals would be bought in past the knock on strips? They are 20mm strips. Nothing is rendered or plasterboarded yet

    regs on casement glazing fitting

hi guys I am due to fit my side window and patio doors (2100 x 2200) in our extension we are building. I am just finishing off on the roof so I am now looking at the windows. This is all being done with building control so I wanted to ask some fitment advice. I have fitted 5 upvc windows...

    Odd dpc method or normal?

Builder has said if it puts our minds at rest he can take the bottom courses out at intervals and re-lay the dpm including a strip of dpc. I guess it would have to be done in long strips and lapped?

    Odd dpc method or normal?

Drytherm Batt, its not all like that. I moved some to look inside

    Odd dpc method or normal?

I hear you woody. The builder has agreed to change it, but swears blind hes not seen it done another way, unless theres a change in level. Bco have said its not ideal and prefer the other way but said its unlikley to be a problem. Its crap that theres so many things people do when theres a...

    Odd dpc method or normal?

Iv had to have a dreaded conversation with building control. He did say hes really not happy about it and definitly not ideal. Hes willing to pass it as long as its lapped properly when he visits. All i can hope is we dont get a difference of opinion on physical visit. I do wish it was done the...

    Odd dpc method or normal?

Ok woody. So going back to using just a dpc sheet as the inner skin damp, thats still a no-no? Thats my main worry

    Odd dpc method or normal?

Yes, its sticking out from there onwards. The rest of the course its inline. The dpc they stepped due to floor levels so outside dpc is 1 lower than inside. Personally i would have left them at the same level but they should they couldnt due to tucking the screed membraine with the tails

    Odd dpc method or normal?

That reply was the kind of reply i knew i was going to get. I knew it wasnt right and should of argued it more.. i guess i just thought i was over thinking it. Thing is you trust someone you think knows more than you. Its no snots i am worried about. On the outside skin they have used a 100mm...

    Odd dpc method or normal?

So i just want to ask, i have a couple of concerns so i feel the need to ask. I have a bco inspection due, the lads who have done the brick work have got the structure up. Its all looking good but just a few things in the back of my mind. At the outside dpc, the dpc strip has drifted slightly...

    Odd size for main beam?

SE has confirmed its 13.5mm each side with no additional welded flanges. Its as-is with a padstone either side. Dont sound too bad, just gotta hope my walls are somewhat straight but hes given me a safe zone.
