    DO NOT cut the pipes until you have drained off the water from the heating system, you will find a drain valve on a downstairs radiator somewhere, turn off your stop tap, put a hosepipe on the end of the valve and open, drain untill all water has gone.

    Why would you do this? All the hot taps upstairs will be fed from your cylinder which should work ok? Unless i am completely mistaking what you are saying. :?

    No it's not a problem with mains pressure, just fit a pressure equalising valve.

    i did it for 3 years and have to admit you eat, breath & sleep it. If you are going for it i would recommend genuine 24 hour call out, it makes up for the slack weeks. I work 9-5 now for a chain of schools, money not as good but i do have time for jobs on the side.

    Overflow Pipe/Boiler pressure

    Undo the filling loop which connects to the boiler, you may find it's letting water into the system, or you may have a split in the cylinder coil dependant upon what type of system you have.

    Soil Stack for en-suite

    I would run a complete soil stack externally (vented to the roof) and connect this to the existing drain. You can then connect all your appliances into this soil stack including your downstairs toilet.
