    Leaking toilet glued to wall

Update: I have two toilets, both were leaking from the waste pipe but the plumber fixed one by removing the boxing-in and pulling the waste pipe upwards and towards the toilet. Unfortunately he replaced the other toilet and the replacement toilet now does the same. I can't get hold of him for...

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

The 32mm pipe has been in place since the flat was built and the washing machine has always discharged into it. It mostly runs behind the cabinets in the cupboard, so it's not easy to upgrade it. As to why this was installed this way to begin with, I suspect the sink/dishwasher were (at some...

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

Here, everything from the dishwasher to the stack is 40mm, everything else is 32mm.

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

Thanks Hugh, this sounds like a reasonable explanation of what's happening. I was also surprised that the sink/dishwasher had 45mm but the washing machine had 32mm. I guess because there are both a sink and a dishwasher, compared to just a washing machine. It's also possible there was some DIY...

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

The washing machine waste was hooked into a 32mm waste originally, as in the top of it was open and the hose just dangled down into it, if you know what I mean. Now the sink shares this 32mm waste which admittedly is probably too small but if the washing machine managed to discharge into it...

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

I don't actually know. The stack is in the corner of the kitchen behind the kitchen units and both sink and dishwasher wastes disappear behind the units before they get to the stack.

    Powermax flue lagging

Wow, that's a lot of money for a giant kettle.

    Powermax flue lagging

So this is basically the same idea as a Gledhill then? I want an electric solution so I don't have a hidden flue to give me grief. How much does one of these things cost to buy and install anyway? I can't get prices anywhere. Thanks, Chris

    Powermax flue lagging

[/url] Looks good. It's also supported by HeatTeam which is who support the powermaxes - same company?

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

Andy - this is the new setup I've got: When the washing machine drains it empties into the sink. It only gets about an inch high and it drains away quite quickly after the pump stops. The waste hose from the washing machine is attached to a spigot on the sink waste and rises up above the...

    Powermax flue lagging

The Gledhill website suggests they're still selling them, direct from the manufacturer. I had a Gledhill in the last flat and it was a fantastic boiler. Electric heating is more expensive but it's a well insulated flat and the heating is hardly ever on anyway. Also it would be a drop-in...

    Powermax flue lagging

Hi Powermax experts, As discussed in another post, the exhaust flue of my powermax is lagged all the way through the ceiling void, 5m long. While investigating the installation of inspection hatches to meet "flue in void" legislation, I discovered that to fully inspect the flue, any engineer...

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

Great, thanks Andy. Dishwasher is running now, glad to hear there shouldn't be any problems. Cheers, Chris

    Dishwasher waste fitted correctly?

Hi experts, What happens if a dishwasher is fitted into a waste pipe with nowhere for air to get in? My plumber removed a sink but left the dishwasher draining into the sink waste, which looks something like this...

Flue fallen off bracket in ceiling void

Yeah it's a Powermax. I'm planning to move house to get away from the thing. Nah it's not that bad. Tony - would you class a boiler as unsafe if one of the brackets holding the "in" flue wasn't correctly supported from the concrete ceiling? The rest of the flue is fine and the whole thing is...

Flue fallen off bracket in ceiling void

Thanks guys. The flue is over five meters long so this sounds like it might be the reason. Cheers guys, appreciate the help! Chris

Flue fallen off bracket in ceiling void

Tony, are you gas-safe? The reason I ask is because the exhaust flue from the boiler is lagged with about an inch of insulation along its length. I wasn't expecting to see this, is it normal? I don't see how an engineer can be expected to inspect the flue when it's wrapped in a blanket.

Flue fallen off bracket in ceiling void

Hi Tony, Thanks for the response. I had a specialist in this morning to install inspection hatches in the ceiling and it was they who discovered the flue problem. I admittedly didn't try to push the flue very hard in case I broke it but it felt proper solid. I'm not doing anything else with...

Flue fallen off bracket in ceiling void

Hello experts, I have two flues in the ceiling void of my flat. One is the intake and one the exhaust. One of the brackets holding the air intake to the concrete above the ceiling void has fallen off resulting in the intake flue resting on the plasterboard for a couple of feet before going...

    Leaking toilet glued to wall

Thanks kirkgas. We'll get some practice removing a toilet in this way I think.
