I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

This does sound like a shockingly bad PDI by your dealer?! We have to update the software on every car at final inspection before it leaves the factory. The dealer should do the same before delivery, to catch, as you say, any that might have come out during the time it's been sitting in their...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Lots of reasons - some more important than others. The security ones are the most important. Like Windows on a PC, or your anti-virus software, they'll often be "security patches" in response to new threats. Nobody really wants cyber terrorists downloading a wee file to your car to tell the...

:ROFLMAO: Your prejudices led you to guess wrong. Engineer, principally regulations, standards, passive safety and compliance. ... like PR, but different...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

See what I mean? One might almost describe it as "bigotry" I have an EV a couple of years old. I've made no secret of the fact that it's a company car. I've never spent more than £1500 on a car in my life, when shopping with my own money! But I can step back and assess it...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Congratulations. But the problem is that you just assume that folk who don't like the things you like, are... ..."wrong". You assume that the only reason people want a new car is to look good.

Probably the same as if your ICE car had a problem...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

You seem to be having quite a hard time of this update, I must say! When mine does an update, it downloads it to my phone, whenever the phone has wi-fi. I don't really know it's happening until the phone beeps and tells me I have an update. The next time I get into the car with the phone on...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Of course, it might not be the cars, it might be you! Or as Douglas Adams of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fame so aptly put it: “I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies: 1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

"Today's junk" has an extra digit on the odometer compared to cars from the '70s and early '80s - because it routinely "goes round the clock" more than once! I think we have a very rose-tinted view of the past. When I started driving, warranties were 12 months or 12,000 miles. Now they're 3...

That's probably not the date of manufacture though - although I guess it might be?

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

And, it seems, if you're a "certain kind" of ICE owner, you get totally triggered by the slightest mention of EVs, and feel the need to wade in with some random FUD or other anti-EV propaganda, without troubling yourself as to whether it's true or not...;)

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

Er... no. Absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with EVs. It's been going on for longer than the current crop of EVs has been around. Here's my old 1980s ICE. It was a good-sized family saloon in its day - BMW 5-Series sized. It's parked next to a Nissan Note and a Hyundai Tucson. As you can...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Ever since I can remember, car manufacturers have kept buffer stocks in fields. A "new" car could be (in extreme cases), up to 18 months old.

    You're welcome!:giggle: Thanks for subsidising it:ROFLMAO:

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

Even in the most isolated rural areas, I don't think you'll find many EV drivers who need to make a charging stop on a trip to Asda... Well you're always hearing about how it's not the problem it's made out to be - not least from me, and others on this forum, but you seem to only...

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

Yes, but a term used largely by people who don't run EVs... And after only 125 years too! That's... unexpected...?:ROFLMAO:

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

I do think there's a huge amount of training that needs to be done with dealers and sales staff, when it comes to new technologies in general and EVs in particular. Some of them know very little about their own products!

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

Might be standard on all new cars of that marque, but none of my new cars have ever done it. VAG vehicles tend to put up a "please remember your mobile phone" message when you shut them down.

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

I did some work on a very tragic fatal accident where the same thing had happened. Old guy changed cars. New one had a very different pedal offset to his previous car. Came up to a T junction, pushed the brake pedal to the floor, thinking it was the clutch, and an artic went into the back of...

I've got a complaint with my new motor already!

It'll be second nature by the end of the month. I have the opposite problem when I get in my old Alfa, but the other way round and sometimes forget to put the handbrake on / take it off!
