    Laminate worktops - jointing

That should be fine. There's only so low any plunge router can plunge !? Have you checked your depth adjuster (sorry if I'm stating the obvious.....)

    Laminate worktops - jointing

....keep at least 3/4 of the cutter shank in the collet.....don't go extending too much.....this could be highly dangerous. You run the risk of the collet not gripping the cutter sufficiently.

    Laminate worktops - jointing

Hi Gary, Sounds distinctly like blunt cutters to me. If you're cutting worktops, you should always use brand new. Just pop to BnQ and buy a new 50mm x 12.7mm Trend Straight 2 fluted cutter. Take about 6mm each pass, turn the speed up full & don't move too slowly with the cutter. You...

Fitting a solid wood work surface

Danish Oil gives a great finish, my favourite, and easy to use ! 3 coats top and bottom & 5 coats on end grain and any fresh cut out areas before fixing the worktops. Then once a month for the first six months, and to be honest, just as you see fit afterwards. You'll notice if they become...

    Another skirting question..

Hi Kaseryn, In answer to your first question, you can use these : http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=35920&ts=89991 In answer to your second, the traditional method to deal with thicker skirting meeting narrow architrave would be to fit a 'plinth block'. If I knew how to...

    Saw choice ?

The nobex champion will be infinitely more accurate than any £100 powered compound mitre saw. It doesn't cut compound mitres, but you don't need it to for this job. I have an expensive chopsaw, but wouldn't use it for a job like this. The nobex is far less noisy, less messy, less heavy and...

    fixed shelves in alcove

There are different methods to achieve what you're after Florrie. Depending on the width of your alcove, you can screw and plug battens in like this : http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i163/tumba69/IMG_2780.jpg Then MDF or Ply on top cut using Deluks' method (in this case 12mm MDF) ...

Adjusting an uneven doorstop - should I even try?

If it's a stuck rebate (i.e. the rebate is part of the integral frame and not a 'planted' on door stop) then I use one of these to ease frame rebates. Record 077a bullnose plane. When you take the 'nose' off it then allows you to get right into the corners. A little dated in the approach...

Fitting picture rail and skirting to new plaster skim

If you're dead set on glueing the rail, then use 'pinkgrip' gripfill. You'll get it from any good builder's merchant, screwfix, etc.

    Finish for oak washstand

Hi PilotPete, Danish Oil will look fantastic, it's easy to use to achieve a great finish, and keeping the surfaces looking great is really not that much of a hardship. No oil will give your Oak 100% protection. Common sense applies here. Mop up spillages immediately & avoid leaving any...
