Painting wood that's had OB gloss then WB gloss

I will be starting to paint my living room wood work soon and I've stumbled on a problem... The rest of the house had been painted with OB gloss so it was just a case of roughing the paint with 130 grit and undercoat / coat with WB. However when I tried to sand the living room paint the...

Thanks for your reply, had a quick look on the net and it's only about £20 for a wooden scaffold plank so I might go that way.

How to paint a high staircase ceiling

I will soon be painting my hall/staircase problem is half way up the stairs the ceiling cuts short and goes vertical up to the hight of the upstairs ceiling. From what I can find out the way to do it (on youtube) is to use two ladders and a plank of wood to make a platform. Is this really...

Old emulsion comming off when repainted!

After a second look it looks as if the wall has been damaged/repaired so I sanded it right down and touched up the area with filler then gently painted using a brush as suggested managed to get the first coat on so looking good.

Old emulsion comming off when repainted!

I tried painting my on-suite bath room with emulsion which was fine until I reached the area around the sink, the old paint came strait off the wall on to the roller then back on to the wall so it looks a mess I assume it's because there has been water splashed on it over the years. How do I...

Need advice before I contine painting my doors and skirting

Hi, thanks for the reply. It's a silver lid with blue writing. I think I would rather take a hit on the finish than have to paint it again in two or three years time, which is a shame as the solvent based gloss looks really good.

Need advice before I contine painting my doors and skirting

Hi I went and bought a 1L tin of Dulux pure brilliant white under coat and gloss to see if I liked it, I ended up painting a full room of skirting board and 2 doors. However when I went to price paint online to use for my entire house I have learned that I should not be using solvent based...

Power Flush, been told it can't be done!

Yes I suppose it may, but not that extreme when you have spent the last 12 or so winters without CH/HW from a few days to 4 weeks every year. Possibly not but it was out of warranty and was breaking down on a regular basis, I spent the last 4 weeks before the new fit without CH/HW, the...

Power Flush, been told it can't be done!

Ninja Bump! Update on this, my central heating started to break down again when I switched it on for the winter so I bit the bullet and got it completely replaced a month ago. They removed the old pipes, rads & boiler. Fitted all new equipment and copper piping throughout, Rads' TVR's...

Power Flush, been told it can't be done!

There's 9cm of pipe between the radiator's and the floor upstairs so that's 108cm of pipe and no kite mark, odds that its non barriered stuff?

Power Flush, been told it can't be done!

I've had a look at the pipes and they are grey in colour with blue a 'v' printed every 2cm or so, found some markings can't make out the first part '------ class S:10CCU]x1.6mm PB, I think that's what is says as the print is facing the wall and im looking at it with a small mirror.

Power Flush, been told it can't be done!

It's a viessmann combi boiler which replaced the original over 5 years ago. I asked for a power flush because it broke down earlier in the year and the guy that came out said it needed it.
