Not sure if I've had some good luck or not. The following are 2 images of the existing MV. One is the motor (and no info. on there that is helpful ) and the other is the label on top of the box. Then I found a new MV that I have in stock ! Will this replace the faulty one ?

Thank you Gentlemen. I think we'll have the immersion on for the few days until I can replace the Honeywell motor head for the valve. Will hopefully have time today to take the cover off and determine which motor I need. It's obviously 240V, are they all the same for 2 way valves or are there...

Just got up to make the tea and discovered (I think) that what I thought was the MV for the HW is in fact one for the heating. So I have opened the valve on the correct HW valve and am getting heat on the top side of the pipe. If I leave the valve open on this MV until I can get a new Syncron...

They haven't all failed. The CH is working as it should. It's just the HW that isn't working and the more I think about it the more I think that it's the MV that is at fault.

Have just watched a helpful video on YouTube. Are Honeywell synchron motors all the same or do I need to take the cover off and find a number ?

I am getting the impression that you are quietly confident that the problem is that the valve has failed in which case, if I can find the correct innards for the valve I can fix it myself. Are Honeywell MVs all the same inside or do I need to take the cover off first to get a number ?

Sorry but after thinking about it I am still bewildered. If, as you both say, the HW won't kick in until the heating does then how does the system cope when the heating is turned off, say in a very hot period in the Summer ? The HW still comes on in those conditions.

Yes, got that now. The Honeywell MVs on the system are 9-10 years old. Can the innards still be purchased ? I am having difficulty seeing a number on the box that covers them. It's all dark in there now and I will have to have a decent look tomorrow morning. Are all MVs serviceable like this ?

Yes, that is what I intend to do tomorrow morning. If that doesn't point to the MV being caput then it's time for the heating boys I think. UPDATE I have just moved the levers on all three Honeywell MVs to the Manual Open position and then gave the hot water programmer 1, 2, and 3 hour advances and also put it on continuous mode and it would't fire up.
