Help With 14 Year Old's Physics Questions

Basically because the USA mains is 110v, compared with our 230v. So at best a fuse would blow, at worse it could be really dangerous.

    Pin Codes

Like most folk, I have several bank and credit cards with different Pin Numbers. Recently I got muddled as to which code applied to which card, and as a result (after three wrong attempts) my credit card was blocked. I didn't really know what to do about it, but I asked around and was advised...

Elctrical test screwdriver's neon light gets brighter.

Almost any tool can be dangerous if improperly used, but I'm happy to continue using my neon screwdriver as a third-level safety back-up, after switching off and checking with a voltmeter first.

Elctrical test screwdriver's neon light gets brighter.

Is there anyone reading this who's ever had an electric shock from a neon screwdriver ?

    Arrrrg My Back !

Some years ago I slipped something in my lower spine and I had continual moderate pain. Visibly the spine was a little crooked. The doctor gave me painkillers but did nothing about the underlying problem. So I saw a chiropractor and he took X-rays etc. Then in one examination while I was lying...

    Vaillant vs. Baxi

Veissman seem to be highly regarded on this forum, except for the 100 which seems flawed. This has recently been replaced by the 100-w and I would really like to know what the changes were, and whether people think the current model is likely to be more reliable than the older one.

    ohms law

Ohm's Law says that for resistive components the voltage across the component equals the current through it multiplied by it's resistance. Units: volts, amps and ohms. So if you know any two of these you can work out the third one.

    POWER SHOWER - HELP!!!

The power showers I'm familiar with use a cold feed from the tank, so the hot and cold supplies are at similar pressures.

    viessmann 100 or viessmann 200

To be fair, I didn't say anything about fitting the boiler into a cupboard, not that it matters much. The present boiler is in a 360mm space between a cupboard and a wall.

    viessmann 100 or viessmann 200

Do these comments refer to the older 100, or to the current 100w (or both) ? One reason I would consider the 100w is that at 340mm it is the narrowest boiler I'm aware of and I could fit it without having to move (or reduce) a kitchen cabinet.

    poor flushing toilet

Possibly the button has a fine chain linked to a flap, and the chain is too slack so that the flap doesn't open fully.

    replacement boiler

If your existing boiler works reasonably well most of the time, I would stay with it. Modern boilers are often troublesome, as the posts on this site indicate.

Humour me - power shower v electric shower

Note also that pumped showers can have a separate pump, or a small pump can be in a unit together with the control knobs. This is the way my own shower works and is my preference because it's simpler to install. There are dozens of these on the market and you need to do a bit of research to find...

    Boiler Rating

Thanks, D_Hailsham, I've decided to take your advice and keep my existing boiler until it goes seriously faulty. At the moment it works well. But I'd still like to understand modulating boilers: would one of the same nominal rating work as effectively, or would it throttle back to too low an...
