    low energy project advice?

The problem is installing the ductwork. It has to be quite carefully planned to ensure it works effectively and then there is the upheaval to ceilings to get it in place. On an existing property I'd say it was only sensible if you've got plans for a major refurbishment.

    low energy project advice?

First before you start ploughing down the route you have described can I ask you to step back and ask the question what are you trying to achieve? Which is more important the lowest cost of energy to heat and provide hot water for your home or minimising CO2 emissions? If your priority is the...

    British gas remote heating control

Here's the thread. http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/hive-ebay.421567/ Nest and Hive are different. Nest is a smart thermostat with a jazzy interface. Whereas Hive is a Drayton programmer with internet access. There are better alternatives on the market to both.

Old Trianco 36.6kW Oil Boiler - to upgrade or not to upgrade

New Worcesters are easy to install with connections at top back of boiler and bracket for oil line and are lightweight too. But the best thing is the servicing. The primary has a one piece baffle and the secondary baffles are mesh which are easy to remove and replace unlike the spirals on the...

Old Trianco 36.6kW Oil Boiler - to upgrade or not to upgrade

Check the SAP database for the comparitive boiler efficiency (used to be boilers.org.UK). You may find that your boiler is already quite efficient and if the shell is intact then you will gain little by replacing the boiler. If you do decide to replace in my opinion the new Worcester boilers...

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

One of our neighbours has and an Intergas boiler installed. How do I know? There was an Intergas service van parked outside their house this morning. I suspect they'll get to know each other well.

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

There's a big if there which is the radiators are oversized. In the majority of boiler replacement jobs are for 70/80s heating systems with radiators that are woefully small and designed to an 80℃ flow and 70℃ return. Anyway I thought you were a big fan of standard efficiency...

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

I don'tnt think you understand how weather comp works. At 0℃ outside flow temp will be at the maximum and therefore in the middle of winter you would get a 80℃+ slug out of the tap.

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

Says a lot about Intergas installers. No modern boiler is dirty system friendly. So Intergas with their promotion of 4 working parts are insuatating that there's is the boiler for cowboys who don't want to clean and inhibit the system. Well if that's the case I expect to see lots of pump...

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

Hot water temp spikes are another issue with the outmoded Intergas hex. With the max ch flow temp setting of 90℃ and a typical 11℃ delta on an old heat system the DHW in the hex will heat up into the 80s when the heating is on full blast. So as LeeC says you will get high temps at...

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

You have tried to make out that an Intergas boiler is a super efficient state of the art machine. It is nothing of the sort. It has an outmoded design that everyone else packed in making and uses cheap components. In the Netherlands Intergas are sold as a cheap boiler for housing contracts. I...

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

OK you could replace the hex but I'd want it replaced with something that didn't scale up so easily.
  20. S

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

I think that the fact that the Intergas is less efficient for heating and hot water is very relevant given the outlandish claims that some have made for how efficient the boiler is. Major manufacturers have moved away from one piece hex combis due to problems with scale and poor performance...
