    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

So there is an issue with responsiveness to hot water demands so much so that an Intergas boiler has a special pre-heat programme. Note that when the boiler is in this mode the hot water efficiency will be worse. However, the hot water efficiency is not great compared to the Ideal Vogue. The...

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

Its all down to the thermal mass. A plate heat exchanger is a very efficient and effective way of transfering heat from system water to domestic water. With a one piece heat exchanger you have a larger mass to heat up than with a boiler with a separate plate heat exchanger. Thus response...

    ideal vogue or intergas combi?

I'd go for neither of the two. The Ideal Vogue has a stainless steel Giannoni heat exchanger which is fragile if system pressure drops. The better bet is the Ideal Logic which has Ideal's own robust cast aluminium heat cell. I can not understand why people keep recommending Intergas...

what form of heating? (have oil)

If you've already got oil CH then I'd stick with it as it will be the cheapest in the long run. Bulk LPG is about 30% more expensive than oil per kw and cylinders 50% more. Electric is double the price of oil per kw. You could try a heat pump but that would require a lot of work and may not end...

Nest Heat Link wiring - pump always on

You'll need a programmer to time your hot water otherwise you'll waste money heating your cylinder 24/7 and it doesn't comply with building regulations. Nest is only suitable for combi boilers.

Programmers for Worcester Bosch CDi Compact

You can install either the Worcester programmers or a 3rd party 230v programmer like the Honeywell one.

Follow up to condensing Combi exemption

Have you got the sign off from building control yet? Your installation is not exempt unless building control say it is. Also the installer has installed a boiler that is discharging into a confined space that is someone else property. That may have been acceptable when the original boiler was...

    Furnox TF1 or SpiroTrap MB3

The spirotech doesn't really do anything and can clog. Whereas the Fernox TF1 is a good filter but leaks. Have you consider the granddaddy of all filters the Adey Pro 2?

    FlowGroup - Flow Boilers

The economics are against them. They need it to be very reliable for this to work. Note you have to buy your energy from Flow so you'll end up paying over the odds for that the pay for the cost of the boiler.

    Condensing boiler exemption

The OP better hurry up and get on with installing his standard efficiency boiler as the EU is banning them in September next year.

Can Nest be fitted to a Danfoss system?

There are programmers from Honeywell, Worcester, Tado, Heatmiser, and Silas.

Can Nest be fitted to a Danfoss system?

Far comment but there are other products on the market that offer the functionality as Nest and do time hot water..

    Condensing boiler exemption

No that won't prevent plumbing it tends as there will be steam in the flue gasses that can condense no matter what the temperature is. Plumes are usually worse at higher flue temperatures.

    wgrmflow utility 70 smoking

You should have got a qualified oil engineer out in the first place. DIY oil work is whey bit as dangerous as DIY gas work. Carbon monoxide kills not matter what boiler it is from.

Can Nest be fitted to a Danfoss system?

Nest cannot be installed with a hot water cylinder as it does not time the hot water breaking the building regulations.

    Condensing boiler exemption

Contact local building control but I think you'll have a hard job convincing them that you can fit a standard efficiency boiler. And even if you do get permission you'd better hurry as standard efficiency boilers are due to be banned in the EU from September 2015.

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

If you install a combi with multiple bathrooms it is highly likely you will not have enough hot water in the winter particularly if you try to run two showers at the same time. Instead install a heat only boiler with an unvented cylinder. You will then have more than enough water for multiple...

I hate asking the question, but here goes... it's about SIZE

Do not get a combi to heat a large house with multiple bathrooms it will only lead to disappointment when there is not enough hot water in the winter.

    Biomass boilers and thermal stores....

Only it isn't like an oil boiler. An oil boiler you can switch on and off instantly whereas a biomass boiler carries on burning. To avoid wasting fuel and short cycling which will reduce the life of the boiler you need a decent sized buffer vessel.

    Biomass boilers and thermal stores....

As well as being unlikely to find someone to commission your boiler for a few hundred when there is money to be made from an install there are a couple of fundamental barriers to overcome. The first is that RHI terms demand that the whole installation is made by an MCS installed. Second...
