    Why try and belittle people

Good anology Bernard, I like it. To explore it a bit further, I feel as though there's nothing wrong with my processor, it's just that I'm running early release Vista, things just don't seem to knit together the way they should. Still, I suppose I'd get bored without the chaos and...

    Who has ignored someone?

IMHO (and this is entirely personal preference) there isn't any point in "ignoring" another member per se. Any personally insulting posts are (or should be) removed by the Mods - I have experienced this first hand, and even though it was entirely tongue in cheek, I accept that the subject of...

    Why try and belittle people

Like I said Nige, there's absolutely nothing exceptional/impressive about me, I'm very normal, and from time-to-time very dense. I think my head wiring just happens to have developed a knack for spotting associations, patterns and order in the visual medium. When it comes to order in...

    Why try and belittle people

No notb665, MENSA ("The high IQ society" yawn) use a "Culture Fair" test which measures the brain's ability to process similarities, differences and sequences based on geometric shapes, patterns or networks. Where in the world the examinee is from or what type of cultural background they have...

    Anorak hobbies

Yep, that old "military history" euphemism for playing with toy soldiers  Me too Thermo, (takes one to....etc) still have a loft full of general militaria and model soldiers from 6mm to 25mm Ancients to WWII...... hmmmmmmmm fancy a game?

    The things they say....

During the early stages of my relationship with the now Mrs Holybloke (my second marriage), she took her 6yr old son to his school fair. He decided to have his face painted, and being an outgoing little fella, he soon struck up a rapport with the makeup artist as his doting mother looked on...

    North-South divide puzzles nation

Oh that's just sooooo typical, banging on about north and south and offering your banal hypotherses on the location of a mythical line like it's even important. If you can spare the time in between your self-absorbed ramblings, consider what it's like coming to terms with living somewhere...

    A one off fight

Bolo, fair play to you, a thoroughly decent post - I'm actually impressed. David, "criminals" are not a burden on our society, "they" are a product of it, as are we all. It doesn't mean everybody else apart from yourself is responsible for your time in "The Big House", far from it, but it...

    A one off fight

"challenging and THEREFORE interesting" if you're going to quote me Bolo, you could at least make an effort towards accuracy, with your "spooling" at the very least. Chall"A"nging? Behave yourself! Finding someone, or something interesting does not directly relate to being "impressed" by...

    Kitchen help please

No need, just run the plinth past, and if your appliance is at the end of a run - screw a block to the end panel immediately behind the plinth line to stop the end of the plinth "wafting". plinth fixings are supplied with most integrated appliances, but I rarely bother.

 See what I mean?! This is nothing but mindless censorship! Rise up! Rise up brothers - smash the fascist moderators! Storm the admin nerve centre and throw down their symbols of power, united we stand...... oh, back in a mo - dinner's ready.

    A Revolution

I tend to agree. We're fairly "easy" when it comes to keeping us quiet tax break here, extra hour in bed there :D doesn't take a lot. As earlier posted I also think that we are governed more by "stealth" in recent years, but some recent legislation is quite threatening in terms of civil...

    Kitchen help please

You can make a jig yourself out of plinth, easy enough to do - not so easy to explain - I'll sort you a diagram out before Thursday. Under worktop integrated fridge/freezer/diswashers screw to the appliances and don't need hinge holes, washing machines do and may require you to drill your...

    A Revolution

Priestley? No idea. Proby? serial trolley ripping - Que Signife? Cade? Half-a**ed example of how localised insurrections have consistently failed to gain popular support, and thus consistently resulted in a total loss of momentum before any serious challenge to authority could be mounted...

    A Revolution

Well, commoners as opposed to royalty, peers of the realm, landed gentry etc. But never a wholesale plebian uprising, a few serfs with pitchforks on occassions, but at no time a cohesive and widespread effort from the "common ones" to exert the undeniable influence of mass protest.
