I have just laid 4 VanDamme blue series 2.5mm speaker cable under the floor boards for the rear speakers. I just thought maybe I should have put them in conduit, but will it be ok not to? I don't see that I would ever change the speaker cable now, what do you reckon guys?

    removing a radiator completely

Hi all, so do you think I should get the pipes that are now below floorboard soldered on for peace of mind or would the shark bite caps that are on at the moment do a good job for 100years to come??

    wood floor underlay

without seeing it, well its impossible to say. Sounds o.k tho. ( you can post pics on here by the way!) Just read your previous thread! Readings of a concrete base should be pretty much stable. They can move maybe 5% between day and night/humidity changes in the day if there subfloor...

    wood floor underlay

Hey Matty, I have discovered that there is small area where a 5mm gradient has been made when I removed the old wood floor. I couldn't see it before as the 2 rooms were separated by a stud wall which has now been removed also. This is due to where the builders have concreted a small...

how to level concrete area to the rest of the house!

I have just lifted up all the old floorboards in my house and noticed a problem by the french doors area. I noticed the previous (terrible installer) has made a slight gradient in the subfloor as the concrete (2600mm x 200mm) is higher than the rest of the house - so they have used packers to...

Hi all, I have had a radiator completely removed from a combi boiler pressurised system. The builder fitted 2 end caps which looked looked like the sharkbite brand. Is this strong enough to last or best to solder normal end caps on? cheers

    wood floor underlay

The left corner wall black damp patch is on the green floorboard - Do you have any recommendations for a hygrometer and correct tape seal? I was going to go to B&Q to find a meter but don't think they would be that great there. Is it worth getting a damp specialist also? cheers again!!

    wood floor underlay

Thanks Matty! Hey another problem here! I have been lifting up the old cupped warped floorboards and noticed at the top left of the lounge has a black patch. It looks like a damp patch but the skirting above it had no rot or fungas strands coming from it - could this area be where the...

    Door Frame with no Architrave

thanks, just that I have taken out the existing architrave, but left with the wood frame not level with the plastered wall. I thought if I plastered over the frame, the plaster would crack over time, is there a way for smooth crackless finish? cheers
