Changing 3" union locks for 2.5" locks

Thanks for the replies The 8 locks in question (probably 40 years old), all work off a master key - it's in a small business. From what I can see these are very expensive to replace with new - hence I was looking at a set of 2nd hand ones. The problem with the existing is the mechanism...

Changing 3" union locks for 2.5" locks

Hi, I've got a bunch of doors with 3" union 3 lever locks in them. Some are faulty, and I've found some locks online which are union 3 lever, however they are 2.5" Will the smaller locks fit in the doors ok with a half inch gap behind or could there be problems? Thanks in advance

    stepped stairs / edging

Hi, I'm sanding stairs down for repainting and replacing spindles. The stairs are stepped along the side so a base rail can't fit diagonally along the bottom. There are groves cut into the step which the spindles fit into. What normally goes on the outside edge of the stairs? I'll attach a...

    Refina Plastic finishing trowels

I was looking at trowels and came across these plastic trowels. The last posts about them are several years ago. Has any one got experience of using them (refina plastic trowels) are they really a substitute for metal trowels?

Plastering trowel - Stainless / Carbon Steel / Marshalltown

I have a 14" MT Gold and 14" Ragni - both stainless and great to use The 11" was for just one awkward section, the first in several years (I'm a DIYer) so I didn't really need the £40 MT SS trowel They've put a note on my file so I can do an exchange in store in the next few days...

Plastering trowel - Stainless / Carbon Steel / Marshalltown

Today I needed a smaller 11" trowel. @ Toolstation they bought out a Marshalltown - which I queried as I ordered the Stainless steel Ragni but they said it was from the correct picking point. Basically I assumed it was a substitute of equal quality. Now its got some rust marks and...

    Patching up old plastered walls

Hi, Old 1920's house - I'm re-doing a room. On the external wall with the window where a radiator was, I've taken off the loose plaster. Some bits need patching, under the window where the rad was, it's fallen off pretty easily to the brickwork. Being an external wall I've bought hardwall...

chimney removed upstairs, joist not supported

Unfortunately the trimmers are not sitting on anything or in a pocket in the wall. I assume it used to rest on the brickwork of the removed chimney breast. If I push / pull the trimmers up there is movement with all the joists. I think I'll have to give it a go with these sleeve bolts in...
