    Drayton RF SCR Questions

Ok, its actually doing something now which it has only seemingly started doing in the last few days, which I forgot to mention. The red "receiving" light on the SCR is just flashing at a slow steady rate, cant find anything about what this means in the manual. If it flashes rapidly then it...

The problem before was that I could get he boiler to turn on using the controls but the rads would not heat up, I eventually found a stopcock in the bathroom that had been closed and when I opened it up the rads filled with water and we had heating. Now though its a case of the heating always...

But would air in the rads cause the system pressure to drop?

    Drayton RF SCR Questions

Yeah, the original thread was a slightly different problem which I have now solved. The issue now is that the light on the SCR comes on and the boiler fires for no apparent reason, even if I take the batteries out of the +3rf in the living room.

    Drayton RF SCR Questions

I did think that the boiler could be activating the SCR (which was partially what made me suspect the connections) but Drayton reckon that's impossible and the SCR does not work that way. I think I will have to get on to them again.

Hmm, that's thrown a spanner in the works! This is the second SCR we have had and both have done the same thing. Drayton have no idea why this is happening either

Well I left it at 1.5bar last night with the CH off at the boiler, woke up this morning and down to 0.5. Guess I wasted a day yesterday and its something more serious! I bled the rads again this morning though and a couple of them had air in them again, can air pockets working there way...

Thanks, I've just about done it now, taken the best part of the day! I'm stuck on the last bit now, trying to add inhibitor. Ive got a cartridge gun inhibitor and have removed a bleed valve from a radiator to squeeze the gel into but all thats happening is that its oozing straight back out...

I'm planning on going for it and trying to change all valves on the radiators today to be safe. I'm going to replace the TRVs for standard wheel lock valves and fit lockshield valves to the other sides. Before I do is anyone able to confirm if the process in my post above is correct or should...

There are 2 white plastic "pins" on the underside of the boiler, on either side of the electrical cartridges hole, no screws though. I did have the boiler cover off and pulled out these 2 pins which released the block that I believe holds the cartridge inside but I couldn't open this any...

I am pretty confident, the only thing that was putting me off was that everywhere I looked it was saying that you should get a professional in to drain a sealed system as things can go wrong. f it really is as simple as closing the flow and return valves on the boiler, draining the system...
