No the cold is not direct from the mains. Cold upstairs is from the tank .there is a vibration from the mains pipe coming from downstairs going to the tank in roof space. I can put my hand on the mains pipe(which leads to the tank) in the bathroom and feel it.

i had the same problem, you can buy a copper fitting in the BIG DIY stores that will connect the flexible tap hose and then will connect to the copper pipe. therefore joining the whole lot together ,go to the DIY store and study out all the fittings you will find one.

I am going to replace an old bathroom pull cord light switch. I went to look in a hardware shop an have got totally confused. There are 6amp, 16amp switches , also 1 way and 2 way pole. How do i know what my switch is? Is there any way to finding out by opening it up and looking inside.
