Radiator dripping at bottom. Replacement question?

a radiator tail extension do you mean? I was thinking of keeping the same tails and re-using them in the new radiator?? Maybe I should buy new tails? 1/2" size I believe. Is it best to hang the brackets loosely, put the rad to the wall and line up with the pipes carefully, mark the top of...

Radiator dripping at bottom. Replacement question?

I want to keep the same radiator, ie single panel. will I get an exact match length and height wise though, are they standard sizes? One other point - what is the easiest way to line up the new radiator brackets with the original pipes/valves coming out of the floor? Is it tricky?

Radiator dripping at bottom. Replacement question?

I have a small but a constant drip form the bottom of 1 of my radiators downstairs. The others are OK. Tis drip started today and must be due to rust from old age? I want to replace the radiator without draining down my whole heating system. Do I need a radiator exactly the same size...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

but the HTG was ok last time it was on (months ago) and no wires have been played with. So what good will linkign the grey wire into a live terminal do??

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

ahhhhhhhhhhh sorry let me try from scratch!!! HTG ONLY on at prog (light up) power to white wire of 3 port MV terminal no power to orange wire of MV terminal no power to grey of MV terminal so you're saying not a faulty motor/actuator.....

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

you mean link 240 v to the white to test the motor though!!!! i have a new motor and agree i would have to cut old motor wire and link the 2 new wires up with old 2. but am gonna get a new head instead.

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

thanks. there is 240 v at the grey wire terminal anyway so it must be a faulty motor or actator!! i'm gonna get a new actuator from toolstation tomorrow. thanks for your help :)

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

i apologise, i have learnt something new today, i really am sorry for sounding idiotic! I understand grey live means no h/w and htg port only open, and thus with heating only on, drives the valve frommmid position fully open and puts on power to the orange wire and thus pump and boiler...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

yes i agree. also with both H/w and HTG OFF there will also be 240v on the grey wire (provided by the programmer's h/w off terminal being live) so i apologise for sounding confusing !! basically, you were saying although the 3 port motor or actuator may be faulty (due to no HTG), IF there...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

Thank you seco ..... cleared this up!! Power to white, but resistance on lever: would mean that the motor is faulty (not moving at all across), or if no resistanbce on the manula lever then the micro switch in the valve head is faulty, not moving over to HTG only position and sending 240v...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

you are needlessly making this confusing. you do not need to do the above to fault find a motor/actuator!!!!!

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

i understand what you are saying: but the prog is working correctly, there IS power to the room stat, there is power from the room stat CALL terminal to the WHITE wire of the 3 port mid posisition MV. There is NO power to the ORANGE wire of the MV though (which also is in the same connection...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

yes I agree, power off at the prog (HW OFF terminal live) then grey wire will become live, 240v if H/W is on at the programmer but the cyl stat is satisfied then also 240v at the grey wire terminal.

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

WHITE puts power to the motor from the room stat call terminal. IF there is no call for H/W then yes GREY becomes live (due to the power from the PROGRAMMER) and the motor moves across to HTG ONLY OPEN position and puts power, 240V on to the ORANGE WIRE.

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

wha has the cyl stat got to do with no heating??!!! there was power to the 3 port white, but none to the orange. the lever has resistance on, meaning the moto was not moving across. if there was no resistance on the lever, it would mean a faulty microswitch in the actuator. and htg not on...

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

all wiring is tight in wiring centre/at stats, etc. if the grey wire was not live with htg only on, then it could be due to a faulty actauot head/micro switch in it. the cyl stat would only supply the 3 port when power is given to it by the programmer. so if the grey wire was not live with htg...

Gas boiler pipe size - old 15mm, new 22mm!...

ok sorry, so with 6 metres X 5 = 30 metres, gas rate of all appliances in total (as is 1st section and supplying them all) but if a gas rate of just 3.3 m3 in total as you stated: it would be 28mm (next size up)

Honeywell 3 port motor replacement problem

ok thanks. i have also just seen in the toolstation catalogue a honeywell actuator, so may get that and change instead of just the motor (will get a refund on that)!! :)
