    bouncing emails

I agree with Breezer and think that the above means that you have words included in the body text which are on a blacklist. The spam software being employed by the recipients mail system then rejects the delivery. edit: Just to clarify - This software is not necessarily installed on your own...

Or alternatively take a look at http://www.internetgardens.com/ You have to subscribe to get all the info but it's well worth it IMO.

    just wondering about hard drives

Even without raw HD footage (i.e. only using standard DV PAL) you can soon chew up the storage space... 600GB and counting. Final edited footage is another addition especially if you have several target platforms.

    Help My Laptop Is Kaput.

If you have screen corruption in VGA mode, i.e. safe mode, then it is unlikely that downloading drivers would help - VGA mode is (to all intents and purposes) a driverless mode since it replicates the conditions that exist prior to an OS being loaded. You could try re-installing Windows but...

    What's the difference

Absolutely correct gcol - MS Works documents cannot be opened by MS Word (confirmed by trying it with Office XP, not sure if later versions change the situation).

    ID chips in wheelie bins

It might be 'in force' now but that doesn't mean to say it's actually up and running... My prior post gave a few details about EU 2002/96/EC but to explain the implementation in full: Regulations active 2 January 2007. Producers have to join a compliance scheme by 15th March 2007...

    Printer colour use

Yup - known in techincal terms as 'composite black'... which doesn't begin to describe how bad it can look! As regards this printer I no longer have contact with HP engineers and neither do I have any up to date technical information. You could 'try' contacting HP Support Centre but past...

    Printer help, anybody?

The way to fix it is to return it to Epson if it is still in warranty, if it is outside of warranty then try and find an authorised repair centre. I wouldn't recommend you 'have a look' yourself unless you are know exactly what you are doing.

    ID chips in wheelie bins

I'd feel a lot better regarding this topic IF the government applied pressure on manufacturers of electical goods to make them more environmentally friendly with a better ability to recycle them. I'd also be happier if food producers stopped giving us so much packaging when all we want is the...

    ID chips in wheelie bins

Time for WEEE... That time being 15th March 2007 for enrolment and 1st July for implementation.

    Fix the NHS?

Didn't see it but I wish I had... How about this for a NHS scenario: 1. Person experiences repeated instances of allergic reaction including mouth, throat swelling up - cause unknown. 2. Visit GP who says 'you need to see a specialist' 3. GP refers you to a specialist / consultant 4...

    Mobo versus chip

It is a vague question and there is no definitive answer... Was the heat issue localised or throughout the case? Was it just a single symptom of overheating that you saw? Bear in mind that it also depends on the airflow through your case and whether you have any hotspots due to inadequate...

    Moving a Magnolia

Magnolias don't usually like pruning. Also be careful of pruning during winter as you may leave it prone to disease and dieback.

    Moving a Magnolia

It is possible to move a magnolia - I managed it with a 1 year old specimen - but you have to be careful and try to make sure you get as much of the rootball as possible (with surrounding soil). This helps prevent the magnolia from subsequently wiliting or losing leaves when it is in its new...

    Tiling on Plasterboard

I have to admit that the difference between the DIY retail store readymix tile cement in tubs and BAL is quite astounding. I made the switch some time ago and have never looked back.

    Roof insulation

slowjo - as you are discovering there can be a whole world of difference between thinking you have a 'professional' job and realising what you don't have is something which meets building regs. At the end of the day, there is no point doing a job (or paying somebody to do a job) unless it is...

    Roof insulation

When you say 'professionally floored' do you mean it has new floor joists, trimmers, and boards? Or do you mean it has very neatly laid boards on the ceiling joists? The only reason for asking is ceiling joists are there to hold up your ceilings, not to support fixtures and fittings and a...

Orange - my 12 month contract that they say is 24 month

The Orange definitely tastes a bit sour from here... No progress as yet because the line supervisor couldn't get my Orange retail shop to answer the phone. Tomorrow is another day...

Orange - my 12 month contract that they say is 24 month

OK... latest info is as follows: I have spoken to Tanu (line supervisor) at the Orange Call Centre who tells me that there are no specific notes on the account, and that they have not yet received the fax... So far so bad... However, I have been promised a call back tomorrow afternoon by...
