    Scottish independence.

If Scotland does vote Yes, you can pretty much guarantee that every Scots government for the next 100 years will blame all their ills on the English.

McAfee, Win Defender or A N Other?

John McAfee resigned from his own company in 1994 and within a couple of years the bloat started and quality dropped. IBM bought McAfee in 2010 and recently said they were dropping the McAfee name from the AV product, and ex-owner John McAfee was reported to say "Great! Now I can stop...

    Jack the Ripper revealed

All the DNA evidence shows is that Catherine Eddowes (or her shawl) was in contact with the accused at some time shortly prior to her death - considering the lack of washing machines and laundrettes in victorian London, and that she was a prostitute, it's interesting but not conclusive proof.

HMP Wormwood Scrubs 'filthy and unsafe'

If I could trust the Police, Courts and Prosecution and Defence legal teams to put the right people behind bars for the right length of time, I could be happy about harsher prison conditions. NB - Slightly tangental but an interesting read : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment

McAfee, Win Defender or A N Other?

It's ability to find and remove viruses is poor compared to many alternatives - including free ones. It's a huge resource hog and when it 'runs in the background' it frequently uses 99% of the CPU.

Checking the tinfoil for holes that might let the mind-control rays through no doubt

McAfee, Win Defender or A N Other?

McAfee has been garbage since the late 1990s but unfortunately a lot of companies I've worked for use it - I'm guessing it's either very cheap per PC at a corporate level or it's sales reps are all hypnotists. While it does occasionally stop viruses, it's a massive resource hog and far far less...

    Conspiracy Theorists

....if there really was a series of global conspiracies organised by some shadowy secret organization (probably immortal lizards from space, they're usually up to no slithering good...), then it'd be a smart move to employ people like Munchingb spout all sorts of wild, incoherent rubbish to...

    Conspiracy Theorists

I spend some lurking time on the Arrse forum when researching something. Having seen what they do to folks who even claim to have been in the forces when they weren't, I think I'd rather smear my naked genitals with araldite and smash a hornets nest onto my crotch than go on the Arrse site and...

    Conspiracy Theorists

Now this is where if falls apart for me. What is it easier to do? A) Create an elabourate ruse where someone pretends to blow themselves up, and employ false witnesses sometimes numbering in the dozens to claim to have seen the perpetrator do the deed, Then carry this out hundreds of...

More Eurobans on the way ?

If they did, I bet it was followed shortly after by the phrase "Sales Tax" Is there a dodge for 'Commercial" vacuum cleaners to be higher powered, in the same way that we can buy "Rough Service" 100w bulbs?

    new tv

Given the pace at which technology is changing and prices are falling, I think reliability is a bit of a moot point, unless you're buying from the extreme low or high ends of the market. http://www.richersounds.com/ are my go-to site for TV & hifi kit -£500 there should get you a pretty nice...

Never never never accept a caution from the police.

Fishy as it sounds it wouldnt surprise me that our boys in blue would do this. A few years back I was charged with assault (Someone bruised their leg when trying to kick me. Seriously.) and the Police said "If you plead guilty you'll just get bound over to keep the peace." I declined, went to...

    Fireplace wiring safe?

Sounds like you want to replace the 13a socket with a FCU (Fused Consumer Unit) - something like this?

Another 35,000 on the way over?

I think part of the problem is that the illegals aren't keeping their heads down but are using the system for everything they can get. At least, that's what the "Daily xxxxx" rags would have you beleive.

    This can't be right, surely?

I had to look at that for a while before I saw the problem. It's a surface mount box, isnt it? Sparky should've done a proper job and fitted a proper flush mount.

Prince William joins the Air Ambulance Service.....

A mate of mine served with Andrew when he was a midshipman in the navy and described him in terms that were less than glowing. Charles otoh was apparently a great bloke when he was in the RN.

Prince William joins the Air Ambulance Service.....

They may be on benefits, but I've yet to hear of tourists flocking to London to see "The bunch of chavs in burberry tracksuits lounging around the kids playground drinking cheap cider and threatening people with their pit-bulls"

Should certain breeds of dogs be banned?

Over the years humans have domesticated dogs and bred them for useful qualities - such as sheepherding, hunting / retreiving, catching vermin, tracking, racing, pulling sleds, gaurding and even turning spits (thank you QI :) ) The Bull Terrier breeds however have been bred solely for the...
