Unquestionably the best aeroplane of ww2

Don't forget Concorde, a feat of engineering that at the time was akin to making the space shuttle. Incidently the only plane ever to catch the Concorde at full power in a tail on chase was a Lightning. Also the Blackburn Buccaneer - which gave the 'Merkins a shock or two in their Red Flag...

Unquestionably the best aeroplane of ww2

The Mossie was terrific, but I think the Spitfire edges it out because it was the only plane that was top class both at the start of the war and at the end using largely the same design. The Spitfire was designed as a short range, high performance air superiority fighter and every incremental...

I've had the green underlay boads and some which were beige/brown colour similar to cheap hardboard.

Changing the Hallway into a WC??

I belevie the applicable regs are : http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/buildingregulations/approveddocuments/partb/bcapproveddocumentsb/bcapproveddocbvol1/ And the way I read that you should be okay from an emergency escape route angle (Disclaimer - I am not an architect / builder)

    TV Signal meter

EDIT : Wikipedia to the rescue - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signal_strength My follow up question would be : are the ones you get for £10 from ebay/ DIY shed actually worth a damn? I need to realign my ariel (which thanks to the last few storms us currently pointing in the right direction...

    Bad driving

Pretty much identical thing happened near me. The local council have a thing for roundabouts, mini-roundabouts, and roundabouts with traffic lines and multiple lanes you have to try and jump across between the light changes which go with strobe-light frequency. I swear none of them own a car...

    Bad driving

I'm more worried about idiots in front of me and crash-4-cash scammers. It records speed via GPS and detects impact, so if someone does hit me in the rear the app would prove my speed and the video capture of the road in front would prove if I suddenly hit the brakes or not. I think if you...

    Bad driving

I very nearly did the same thing, then I realised I already had a high-res camera with GPS, inbuilt maps and 3G data connection so I got this free app for my phone : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hovans.autoguard&hl=en_GB along with a 32gb SD card Only problem the phone...

    Escape route question

What are the rules on emergency escape routes from a residential property? I've read some of the bumpf online and can't quite fit my scenario into anything I've read. Basically my back garden has no easy exit (tall fence and an 8' drop on two sides) save the side alley running between the...

    Whose fault is the flooding?

Looking at the amount of floodwater I'm guessing the rivers would need to be dredged to about 1/4 mile in depth. Which when you consider the Navy will need some safe, deep water in a sparesely populated area to moor their nuclear subs when the Scots decare independance and turn Faslane into...

    help

Sounds like a squirt of expanding foam should do the trick, but if they have dogs on their balcony it'd be best to involve them as I don't suppose it's dog friendly to eat, especially if they get into the stuff when its still wet. Or just talk to the landlord and tell them you have dog wee...

    Whose fault is the flooding?

I'm sure AronSearle would be first in the queue to demand that Poor People have the right to be flooded just the same as rich folks...

    Whose fault is the flooding?

I saw Eric Pickles on the One Show the other night and he breifly mentioned something about making new build houses more flood resistant. My first flat - and the new block that was built next to me - were garages on the ground floor and the flats above inherently making them more flood proof...

Running all cables back to an understairs cupboard.

Doing some googling it looks like the max length for a straight run of HDMI cable is about 10-12m (35-40ft) before signal degredation starts to affect 1080p signals. Looking at the prices for HDMI over Ethernet boxes it might be worth getting a streaming media player that can pull movies off...

    Pit Bull Terrier, why?

TANGENT Would allowing people to carry guns would reduce the incidents of chavs/thugs owing dangerous dogs as a status symbol or weapon? At least there's some level of control with a gun. Plus if a dangerous dog attacks you could shoot it. IIRC the options for defending against an attack...

    Pit Bull Terrier, why?

I suspect your first rhetorical question there is correct. Unlike many breeds of dogs that were created with a practical purpose, pit bulls and the ilk were created for bloodsports (bear baiting, bull baiting) and then to fight each other when those sports were banned. I'm an animal lover...

    DIY Flood Defences

One thing that occured to me is that I have one of those electricity meters that sits in a box recessed into the outside cavity wall. If the water got high enough (2ft?) it would flood into the cavity. Worse, when I had my cavity wall insulation done it was the recycled newspaper type stuff...

    DIY Flood Defences

There's a 'How to' on sandbags on the Environment agency website. It says to use sharp sand not soft sand, and in an emergency rubbish bags full of earth will do the job.
