Thanks for the response, exactly were would this valve be and is it something I would need a plumber to sort or is it a potential DIY job? If its not this will my only option be a pump? to be honest I thought this kind of pressure was normal upstair in a house without a combi boiler!

Hi Our washing mach makes a very loud banging when spinning at high speed but not when slow, do you think this is the bearings, dampers or just a slipping belt, I have tne back off and there is a lot of black round the motor area although the belt is still intact? Thanks Darren
