    gel Ink

Unless the pants were Calvin Klein or similar, is it really worth the bother. the cost of the solvents would probably equal the price of a new pair of pants. They seem so cheap here now. Milton will probably get it out, that is if you can buy it over there, but it would probably shorten the...

    Turned Over turf!

It depends what kind of lawn you want. a} is obviously the best way if you want a good lawn. I have made several lawns, and it is hard work, there are no short cuts. If you rotovate it now, then keep raking and pulling out weeds, it should be ok to make the new lawn in the autumn. But...

removing spilt masonary paint from upvc window frame - help

A tip I was given some time ago, when I spilt some on a carpet, was to cover the paint with Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion, and leave it for about 2 hours. Surprisingly, it worked, the paint was softened, and was able to scrape it off quite easily. Might be worth a try. Makes me think twice...

    Amtico

We have got it in our Kitchen. It was fitted about 20 years ago. It was expensive. But we are very pleased with it. It has constant heavy use, and is still looking good, whereas many cheaper flooring products would have been replaced by now.We have replaced the cooker and the fridge, and the...

    Kitchen Tiling

Unfortunately, it is difficult to remove tiles without damaging the wall I have always found, and have never been impressed with tiling on tiles. I would remove the old tiles, hoping for the best, but be prepared for replastering.

    Cooker recommendations?

Skaffen I am now retired, but sold thousands of cookers in my working life. I still prefer the British makes. Stoves, Cannon, Parkinson, New World, Leisure etc. They all have many years experience of manufacturing cookers for the British market. Not quite so fashionable at present, but the...

    Floorboards

Is it your intention to have an uncarpeted floor? Usually floor boards are fixed with nails, not screws, and these can be sunk with a hammer and punch. Probably some of the boards have been lifted, and refixed with screws so that they can be lifted again. Sanding should not really be a...

    Cables in cavities

I have got cables in the cavity. Installed by a qualified electrical contractor. It was the easiest and the obvious way to do the job. But I now have the problem that foam insulation cannot be installed. Not too bothered about it though, I doubt if it would make the house any warmer, or...

    Non return valves.

Our machine is plumbed in for cold water only, this avoids the problem. There is some advantage also, washes better on a rising temperature.

    Tree roots.

Are these tree stumps, or just strong roots? I have dug out several shrubs recently which had these thick roots. I used an ordinary spade, but after it was in the soil, I hit the top of the blade repeatedly with a sledge hammer. That slices through the roots, you can pull quite a few out...

    wembleylike garden?

Brambles are very invasive and weed killer might not kill them. Obviously you want a new lawn as soon as possible, but have you thought of sowing it in the autumn, which will give you most of the summer to try and clear the brambles. Or would you be better using turf in this situation?
