Best car tyre - value for Money - Michelin have done 66,000!

Good info pilotpete, are you a pilot or is that the tyres-u-like?We have a costco in derby,I have never been in it myself, although a lot of folks at work joined when costco came and did a presentation.Initially, when the place was being built, they advertised for members, but were definately aiming...

    Cold Renault

Joe- 90,I am not one to criticise other peoples attempts to be helpful on here, but you are absolutely wrong.Thermostat is just that, thermostatic. It reacts to the amount of work the engine is doing, the heat produced is in direct proportion to the work done.It does not sit either closed or open,it...

    Peugeot 306 OVerheating Problems

Munk,if you get no warm air at all, then there is no hot water going to the heater matrix.Did you have the temperature selector to hot when draining/refilling/bleeding the system etc?If yes,is it actually working? You could have a jammed heater valve or the thing is shut and the control cable come...

    Cold Renault

If you idled it for 45 mins after being driven on the road, then it sounds like the 'stat is stuck wide open. Not being a Renault man I can't just tell you where it is.Usually found in the upper water pipe connection on the cylinder head. The higher speed on the fan is just reducing the temp. even...

    Cars In General

Well Dan,it depends a lot on the air space in the fuel container. For instance,if you had a gallon(5 litre)can, full to the brim,it would probably not deteriorate much in a year.In the case of a parked up overwinter motorbike, mower, strimmer and the like, the fuel can lose it's "light ends"as they...

    Cars In General

Fattony,If you want to clean your injectors use something like STP,tip a bottle in with a tank of fuel, this will remove deposits quickly.Regular use of redex will help to stop the formation of deposits anyway, but it isn't so effective as a clean up agent.I believe Redex make a specific injector...

    Vauxhall Astra..At my wits end..

Not sure I agree with you there neo.It seems to me, reading various posts that vauxhall don't suffer any more with mysterious fault lights than any other of the mass produced cars.Having to pay somebody money to get a fault light put out, when there is no actual fault is really frustrating, and it...

    vauxhall zafira heater

You probably have a control cable adrift,so the first thing to do is remove the glovebox. This is only held by four screws. You should then be able to see if anything is off.Front end of the centre console only has a couple of screws for a bit more access.

    Battery help please

clazza, don't risk getting stranded by trying to drive it if you can't keep the engine running. It's possible your battery has shorted out inside, the best thing to do is charge it up and try again or have it tested first,it needs charging to test it.I was going to work about 5:30 am a while back...

    Seatbelts - not returning

I agree with Jonnyfishing, there is no adjustments to be made on any seatbelt I have ever been aquainted with.Either get good breakers ones or preferably new.You want to rely on the belts to possibly save you and your family from harm.Check handbook or with dealer before doing anything,in case...

    Vauxhall Astra..At my wits end..

Garcraig, looks as though the roadside recovery man was about right with the fuel pump.It does have a problem if it can't push fuel through the filter! Let us know the outcome when the job's done.

    honda

Hi Millerman,You are right,it is odd that the rear brakes wore out well before the fronts. It has had dealer service to maintain the warranty, and mid term checks and oil changes done by me.There has never been any evidence of brake drag or any other reason for wear at the rear, other than the pads...

    honda

Nothing to do with Honda's,but as you are talking brake pad life, thought this might surprise you.My wifes Zafira, now 4 years old and 65000 miles,is still on it's original front discs and pads. It's a 2.0 diesel and does not have an easy life. The discs are wearing and will probably have to go...

    battery keeps going dead

lenA,glad you have got the problem sorted.Have you had to buy an alternator or have you found someone who could diagnose a diode fault, and supply/fit the parts.Anyone prepared to strip and overhaul anything is getting rare nowadays.

    battery keeps going dead

LenA,about the only thing you can do is check the fan belt tension,as if it is slack, the alternator will not be turning fast enough to charge. If tension is ok,then take yourself off to a parts shop with an alternator testing facility. As you have already replaced the battery,AND cleaned the...

    Recovering cost of accident damage

I am reliably informed that you can't lose a protected NCB,else why have one?BUT,a couple of friends have made claims, they retained their NCB,but the 70% or whatever was knocked off a larger premium come renewal time.So although you keep the NCB you pay more anyway.Hopefully, all insurers are not...

"R" reg Astra Estate 1.7 TD

Nige, you are right about the cat. From around the mid 90's I think,Vauxhall started fitting an oxidising catalyst to the diesels. Not quite as clever as a petrol cat,but cleaned up the exhaust a lot.Diesels having lots of torque, generally get driven to use it instead of revving through the gears...

    Peugeot 206 Strange Noise

Did a similar job on a citroen ZX,not sure if your peugeot has similar bleed points or not.If you can ident them(zx had 3,two were little taps and 1 was like a tyre valve)You need something like a 1.5 litre empty antifreeze bottle with the bottom cut off. Jam it's screw neck into the coolant...

"R" reg Astra Estate 1.7 TD

Softus, not sure what you are querying unless you read the post too quick? Agile has a noise on the astra, and it's similar to one he had on a Peugeot 405,which turned out to be the top bushes turning on the front struts. Sainsburys? It's a large supermarket group who just may not be in your...
