Hi mel, plates on ebay are about £40-£50 they come with the washers you need. Unfortunatly I don't think you can buy the washers without the plate. But I think the price he has quoted is far too steep.

Cheers wabbitpoo i didn't know jetwashing could damage the grain, thanks for that info. I suppose when it is bone dry it is not really that bad, you have to look close to see the blotchiness. So would you recommend oiling it when we have dry weather or take a chance on jetwashing it.

If it's leaking from the outside then yea take the valve to bits, might aswell change the diaphragm and re-tighten all the screws around it. Make sure you clean the 2 brass sections as they butt up together so you get a good seal.

Ravenheat's are sheet. it is hard to price a job without seeing it, but still a combi 2 combi swap is about £2000. I can get a potterton promax HE or vaillant ecotec for about £700 so thats £1300 labour. Still a very good price
