Looks like an overheat stat to me, on your boiler it`s usually underneath the boiler on the right hand side behind the gas valve. Do the wires attatch to the gas valve?

I can`t understand why you`ve got this switch at all! The boiler has a thermocouple that does exactly the same job as it has a constant pilot on it.

Thank god for that, thought you were gonna say £400. Buderus or viessman are the top ones, then i`d be looking at the worcester or vaillant range. You just can`t tell what`ll prove its worth in the next 10 to 15 years. Although other installers may sway towards other manufacturers.

Most boilers have pros and cons. The real question is how much you`re willing to spend. Then in your price range a few ideas might be available.

Ptfe tape and a bit of Boss white, or other jointing compound will sort it out.

Check the pump is running, is the boiler stat on full?

If you`re not in a hard water area it`s not a must. The plate heat exchangers clog up over time, i install alot of vaillant combis at the moment, the dhw heat exchangers on them are very easy to remove. So descaling or replacing would be an easy job if it ever happened.

From your description, there`s power to the pump when called for. how old is it? It may be old and tired enough not to be able to overcome the initial inertia from a standing start. This would cause a lockout for overheat.
