[Photo] 3 Years+ Sewage Smells in the house (man hole to fill)

No it doesn't have one on the inside but it did when the builders left it. Due to the smells we got the builders back and got them to put the vent outside. STILL smells! They said we don't even need the vent as there is a vent at the other end of the house and most terrace houses have one vent...

Because it's impossible to know where it is. I think it's in the middle of a partition wall now the cctv couldn't go round the corner.

[Photo] 3 Years+ Sewage Smells in the house (man hole to fill)

We had some partition walls put in and a bit of a rearrange. This included toilet move and new soil pipe which goes immediately outside to junction. The one in the pic is the old redundant one. I don't think the builders sealed it off properly. We used a cheap building company which was the only...

[Photo] 3 Years+ Sewage Smells in the house (man hole to fill)

Yes you are missing the fact that there are two pipes (only the first can be seen in the first photo) coming off to the left. Basically I want to seal these f*ck3rs off in the off chance it *may* fix the issue. I've replaced the downstairs bathroom (professionally) and we just have a sink in...

[Photo] 3 Years+ Sewage Smells in the house (man hole to fill)

Is it possible to buy 1/2 clay soil pipe? I could lay that on top of the existing one. I did a google search but nothing came up looking suitable.

LOL yes I agree. From the CCTV footage it should be directly in the cupboard area but might be partially under the slate. Photo below...

Thanks so much for your help here. The property is a detached victorian school which has been extended. You are correct in that it is an extension over land which would have once been outside.

[Photo] 3 Years+ Sewage Smells in the house (man hole to fill)

Possibly but it depends... I believe the manhole is in a cupboard which has a painted concrete floor. I may find that 1/2 of it is under the main bit of hall which has a nice slate tile floor. I can't dig that up. The cupboard is about 1m x 0.75m so the manhole cover may be partially under it...

[Photo] 3 Years+ Sewage Smells in the house (man hole to fill)

We have tried literally everything else. We have even ripped out a brand new downstairs toilet and sink and had it refit. We have had many plumbers and builders look and NOBODY can find what's causing it. :( This is a desperate last resort. It's caused a huge amount of stress in my household.

[Photo] 3 Years+ Sewage Smells in the house (man hole to fill)

My wife is away this weekend so I thought I'd start a job I've been putting off for ages. We get terrible sewage smells in the house. A CCTV inspection showed me that there is a manhole in our hall which is covered over with a concrete floor. There is a picture below which shows it. I am...

Bad Smells in Downstairs Toilet for over 18 months now!!! :(

I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!! After blocking all the drains up with bailey plugs and filling the sinks and toilet with water. I found water shooting out the back of the toilet on the floor. There lies our problem. 18+ months of rancid smell all because of this one stupid thing!

    Electric Inset Fireplace with Thermostat

Thank's for your concerns. We have a detached house in the countryside with no near neighbours and no kids. The only reason the MI says that is incase someone covers it and it comes on. It would always be switched off at the unit and wall when not in use. We do have a dog though. Hopefully she...

    Electric Inset Fireplace with Thermostat

Thanks all. I will only use it when I am in my office at home. Saves me getting too involved with work and too hot and having to think to switch it off and on every hour or so. I work pretty hard and don't need distractions. I know that sounds ridiculous.

    Electric Inset Fireplace with Thermostat

Correct... I am researching and doing it anyway. Just a word of advice... cut back on the sighs. It's unnecessary and you just happened to do it to someone who has an irrational hatred for it. Thanks for your help.
