Internal bolt on an upvc door

i think the product mentioned above would work for inward and outward openers actually , according to whether you fitted it to the frame or opener. use 2 - near the top and bottom of the door.

    Fitting woodend glas bead

for double glazing i would recommend dry glazing with EPDM rubber tape. for single glazing, it's normal to use putty only (hold the glass back with small pins). if you're using wooden beads you can use putty (the one in the tube is handy) or silicone to bed the glass and beads.

yes any door with a yale lock or handle that can be tugged is vulnerable. my friends got in to my house after they locked themselves out with an umbrella through the letterbox. (it was a yale / nightlatch). about what your locksmith was saying - 5 lever mortice locks will need to be picked...

if using roller cams then there will need to be about 13mm gap between the door and the frame. the existing rebate in the frame may not be deep enough, so a small piece would need to be planted on. if not using roller cams then the adjustments to the frame should be not much more than if...

i take it that includes the kids as well?? charming... lots of people live in shared accommodation. of course if it comes under housing for multiple occupancy or any other public type space then there would have to be a thumbturn or other way of escaping without a key.

you should be able to lock it from the inside by pulling up the handle to fire the bolts, and turning the key. only problem then is if you need to leave in an emergency. same problem with any lock though - including a standard mortice. one way is to hide the key somewhere that will be hard to...

    Hinge positions.

put it this way - if you had 3 hinges in the traditional fashion, and you had to remove one. obviously it would be the middle one, it's taking the least load. up at the top it is working with more leverage against the door trying to pull away. in a composite door construction the middle rail...

    Hinge size advice needed

another thought - the thickness of hinges varies a lot (both plates and the gap) , and is not specified on the online places, so may be better to measure your existing ones and get a match in a shop. otherwise you may have to chisel the recesses deeper which is a very precise job and easy to go...

    Hinge positions.

well it will help spread the weight of of the door into the frame - like a double sized hinge with twice as many screws i suppose. it will have more leverage to support the weight than if it was half way down in the middle position. on a solid wood door, the middle position may be...
