    Cabin wood rot

No earth heaped up, we had weed membrane put down and gravel when it was built. I think I'm going to give the gravel a blast of weed killer before topping it up with more gravel once everything has been painted and repaired etc.

    Cabin wood rot

I think from the gutter when it was broken and maybe from weeds, also the torrential rain - maybe not having a good layer of paint or finish - there's a lot of areas where the paint has lifted. Perhaps it wasn't applied correctly?

    Cabin wood rot

It's sitting on a plastic base frame which the cabin company guarantee for 20 years. I see no other sign of rot around the cabin, its just the back of it The picture I sent isn't the worst bit, the worst was in the corner but I didn't get a photo It was sodden and crumbling away

    Cabin wood rot

Hello, Yes we do have gutters on front and back - the back one wasn't installed properly which I think caused the issue as it was bulging away from the trim and water was spilling down the wall from it. I've since fixed this by adding an extra clip which has straightened it out Not sure how...

    Cabin wood rot

I have a garden cabin and I've been long meaning to do some maintenance on it - particularly after the last week we had a huge load of rain Finally booked a day off work to sort it today as the sun was out and I've found there are 2 or 3 logs near the base which have patches of rot I used a...

    Replacing cabin guttering

Hello, I've never done any guttering before myself, but was thinking I might be able to tackle the problem I am having with my garden cabin - when the guttering was previously installed either it wasn't done properly or the flex of the cabin caused it to warp... I'm thinking probably just that...

    Apple Tree wasp problem

As much as I dislike them, I won't be a wasp murderer - don't want their blood on my hands. Hoping for a peaceful resolution to this, was thinking just get rid of the food source and they will move on, but just need a clear area to do so without provoking any attacks

    Apple Tree wasp problem

Problem is a 3 year old... And also I'd like to cut the lawn too at some point Another concern would be that we have a garden cabin and a shed right next to it all, so I don't want hungry wasps looking for a B&B after they've had their fill

    Apple Tree wasp problem

Hello, we have an apple tree in our garden that should have been pruned and cut back but wasn't done properly and has led to an over abundance of apples that fall from the tree in our garden I tried to pick up as many as I can and my misses is too lazy to help, so therefore we are besieged by...

    Refinishing garden furniture

I was sanding because the surface was very rough - the furniture had many cracks due to weathering and neglect so I filled these with wood filler and sanded to make a smooth surface so nobody got splinters in their butt I wondered if it needed sanding back again because I already used teak oil...

    Refinishing garden furniture

Would that offer better protection and would I need to sand it all back first before applying?

    Refinishing garden furniture

I've sanded down, filled the cracks with wood filler and sprayed Bartoline teak oil and rubbed it in on some very weathered garden furniture on the advice from my local DIY store - but think I have made a mistake... You can see the original wood in the picture below, does anyone know what type...

    Is this bush dying?

Yeah, the shed is set further back in the garden, away from the tree - we moved it there from the other side of the garden. We had no involvement in the tree proximity to the fence, according to local history it is one of the last or only surviving apple trees of an orchard that used to be...

    Is this bush dying?

This bush has grown alongside the apple tree since before we moved into our house 4 years ago - lately it has grown vertically up the fence but at the back as you can see in the photo it's thinned out whereas before there used to be a lot of leaves I trimmed the top of it earlier today to try...

    Scratch on Resin drive

Unfortunately not, its never really gone away - I tried using a scourer, jet wash, fairy liquid, wire brush etc. but you can still see the outline of it and I think where I have scrubbed its chipped away some of the resin The whole drive is in a bit of a state to be honest, a lot of weeds have...
