Have you checked the low water pressure cut off switch, i have known this to fail getting clogged up with dirt and not working. I have changed a few pcbs on this series of boiler so it is a good possibility James

As already said the avanta is a new boiler to the uk, broag have been a commercial boiler supplier for many years. I do (company) the bulk of the warranty work for broag. On there commercial and domestic boilers, and honestly the only real fault we have has been a batch of faulty pcbs...

The filling hoses on lpg and oil tankers, are very long. In most cases the operators leave the trucks on the public road and run the hoses out. My parents oil tank is very far away from vehicle access and must be about 45m away they just reel out the hose from the road. James

Sounds like a flame rectification issue, could be dodgy electrode/lead or defective pcb. You need to check to see if power is going to the main burner solenoid on the gas valve though to eleminate a faulty gas valve. James

Why not use LPG then you can have either a bulk tank or cylinders and use normal converted gas appliances. James

What type of valve is it, I,e Honeywell etc. Normally easier to change the acutuator (head), than try and repair the unit. James

I think your price for a sooted up bbu, sounds fair when you consider the time it takes to clean a sooty unit properly, carry out all the checks. And consider the mess you undoubtly end up in, and if you only charged the price of a normal service you probably wouldnt here from the customer...

Shouldn't involve gas pipework, but heater may need setting up again afterwards. If your not sure better to get a professional in, not worth the risk. James

Do you have an airing cupboard with your hot water cylinder in. Should either have 1 3port valve or 2 2port valves, in theory depending on system. James

Could be a problem with either the motorised valve or room thermostat, when you turn the heating on check to see if the valve motors open. James

It always make me laugh when i hear the prices people charge on here, we would charge £148 for a domestic boiler up to 70 kw. Which is a bargain when you consider out hourly rate of almost £180 per hr. James

Running a pump with no water in will do damage, but for a few seconds to check it, is fine. A new pump is about £40-45 so i would check the impellor hasn't sheared off, and are you sure the pump is running. If it seems to be running but no circulation it probably has sheared off unless you...

Depending on how hard you persuaded the pump the impellor may have sheared off of the motor shaft. Turn off both valves either side of the pump and undo the four allen bolts holding the pump head on. Then remove the head. Make sure the impellor is intact and that it spins with power on. James
