I installed my 10mm microbore system 35 years ago. Originally I used 3/4 inch stainless steel tubing from the boiler to the manifolds, one on the 2nd floor landing, the other on the groundfloor. The reason for using steel tubing in 1971 was because of a world copper shortage. From the...
It's the valve that you fit into the system which will have the internal overflow. I've recently fitted a Torbeck Variflush Drop Valve into my cistern and it has it's own overflow. I'm really impressed with it.
My daughter and husband sold their house in 2002. They moved two streets away and stayed there for two years before splitting up and selling. My daughter moved back to her original road, buying a house near to the one previously sold. All three houses are listed at their correct prices...
When your carpet was fitted, slats fitted with small spikes would be fixed all round the edges of the room. The carpet is then stretched and the backing is pushed onto the spikes. Your carpet can be lifted without too much damage to the backing, however for a neat finish, it needs to be...
I did my own loft conversion in 1987 and built the open staircase myself. When I put the plans in, they were sent back because the treads were more than 100mm wide. I redrew showing 12mm iron bars fitted centrally between the treads. That was acceptable. As it happened, the easy-going...
The method is called dry-lining. Large spots of adhesive is placed on the backs of the boards before they are put in place. If you remove the plaster board expect to find wiring and maybe heating pipes behind them. My daughter's house is built in this way and the boards have been hung with...
If I were doing it, I would measure up so as to cover the pipework, then make up the box using 12mm ply, glued and panel pinned down the corner. The box can then be fixed to the walls with gripfill.
Funny to read your topic this morning. We had a visit from one of our daughters last night. She'd been away for the weekend on a university reunion. Their course had covered mathematics and statistics. Of the fifteen or so ex-students who had been there, I asked her how many were still...
If you've been picking up more than dust, you've maybe broken the belt. Try to turn the brush. It should be difficult. New belts are fairly cheap but b******s to put on.
Use 12mm ply. I did my daughter's boarded floor a few years ago using 9mm, screwed every foot, and although the tiles are secure the grouting has needed to be redone.
Shouldn't think so. I widened mine by half without gates several years ago and nobody's said anything. At the time, I also got the council to widen the slope to the road.
