    Earth rod advice

Hi, thanks for your replies!-really appreciated. The Wylec CU is a simple NH804, 8-way with NO rcd or provision for one. There IS a separately mounted external cut-out that is black with a yellow button on it, that I'm now thinking must be that Voltage Operated ELCB devices you mentioned.-...

    Earth rod advice

Hi All, my daughter's new (but old-1920s) house only has a very thin-1-2mm earth wire down to what I presume is the original earth rod. It's a TT circuit, so just L and N are supplied. I'd like to install a better earth via a new earth rod....any tips/advice please? Cable size 10mm ? Thanks

    Identify this filament bulb

Hi, The base identifies the bulb rating to prevent you from just plugging any old bulb in. Some bases have a slit between the pins, some have a tab on the side, some are smaller diameter, etc. It's not just random. Look at your lamp set and count the number of bulbs, then as had already been...

    Best Cheapo Magnolia Paint?

Just used some Wilkinson's emulsion, not their BUDGET budget paint, but their normal reasonably-priced budget paint, no probs, happy with result. Would buy again definitely.

    sunroof seal

Hi, if you want new seals because rain's getting in, then it's probably getting in between the roof and the seal. I fixed a leaking dealer-fitted Britax sunroof on my daughter's 1982 Polo by removing sunroof and rebedding the rubber seal using Thompson's roof and gutter mastic seal, from B&Q...

    Sharp R-270SLM Microwave Lamp Replacement

If you can't buy the bulb locally, try Screwfix as they stocked the bulb for my microwave that no-one else did...apparently it's not a 'standard' bulb but one peculiar to Japanese/American white goods.

    Hotpoint WMA40 drum leaking

Thanks Rocks1! I've put a link to the pic at the bottom of the original post..it;s leaking out of that black line above the numbers 8 & 9. Will I get away with using old gasket, ie is it rubber? or should I buy a new one. Don't have any luck with silicon sealant, but many thanks for the...

    Hotpoint WMA40 drum leaking

Thanks for your swift reply :-) No, it's def. the seam...I thought I'd uploaded a pic but it hasn't appeared. The door seal is a bit manky, but you only have to pour a couple of pints of water in the drum to see the leak. So there IS a gasket between the 2 halves? Will I need to replace it if...

    Hotpoint WMA40 drum leaking

Hello, my elderly mum's WMA40 has a leak behind the bottom weights at the front of the drum. I removed the weights to have a look, and a bonded seam is leaking. My question is: if I replace the front half of the drum, is there a gasket or sealant required between the 2 halves that I'll have to...

    WMA74 Bearing

Here's a link to an answer to your specific query: http://www.fixya.com/support/t4081849-change_bearings_hotpoint_wma74 I recommend taking photos of any wiring before you remove them from the terminals!. You'll need a lot of room as the drum-that is the outer (plastic) AND inner (stainless...
