I know the reasons,my point was to visibly see that drop kinda makes you think :? , I do 40 odd tightness tests a day........& 1 thing ive found out is theres alot of people living with potentially dangerous gas leaks.

I'm also a meter fitter and get paid per meter fitted, I clear between 10-15 a day,20 on a good day.....I cleared after tax last week £850 & the latest I finished all week was 6pm, certainly no dead end job......on my last job installing central heating systems I came out with just under half...

What about an E6 meter, your allowed an 8mb drop with no smell of gas!! Never been ok with that rule, it plays on the conscience! I have a question for the engineers here, if youve done a tightness test on an E6 meter and noticed a 9mb drop in 3 mins.....then investigated further & found when...

Jeffrey, was that recent then? The job sounds easy, did you have many med pressure meters to change? Heard they can be a pain when taking pressure readings.

I thought that aswell but some of the guys are saying this, will find out....but installers in general do seem to be making alot more than service/maintainence guys these days.

Well the current guys are coming out between 30-40 grand, its price work so your looking to complete between 7-12 meter installs a day, the customers know your coming that day but you can phone them the night before to arrange a certain time.

Have been offered a job installing meters,governors etc & its really good money......just curious what other installers think of the job....good,bad,boring??

I always use my pump pliers, mole grips would do aswell I suppose......depends how strong you are :?

Sounds good but I'm very rusty on repairs, dunno how PME would look at that, all ive done is installs & some servicing.......will fire of the application anyway, cheers :wink:

Does anyone know any companies in the east coast of scotland looking for any Gas Engineers/Installers........i'm ACS qualified with 3 yrs experience, theres seems to be a shortage of Installers jobs up here at the mo so thought i'd try my luck in here :wink:

I couldn't find anything on PME partnerships only PME which you can access thru the carrillion website & theres one based in Glasgow & Dundee,is there any contact details for the partnerships?

Do PME take on domestic gas engineers then? Thought it was just commercial.

Surely they have once you receive the certificates?? Are peoples interpretation of RGI a corgi one or ACS only??

I have done for family & friends, incedently when people say RGI do they mean corgi registered or ACS qualified only, its just when you pass your ACS your details are registered with corgi so in effect you are registered, the corgi registration is just a bit like joining an exclusive golf club...

Baxi aren't taking on in Cornwall at the moment, still awaiting to hear from Worcester, who according to one of their engineers is taking on in Cornwall. Also applied to the British Antarctic Survey, they require plumbers/heating engineers. Any other companies/ideas greatly fully recieved :D...
