    How to use multimeter

I know the test procedure for my meter, i was just stating the obvious. Things fail no matter how much you test. Thats my last word on it, in deference to the original poster alifrank1 who has had her thread hijacked.

    How to use multimeter

Doesnt make any difference wether i tested the meters functionality or not, if the wire was breaking it could have done it between self testing and testing the battery or whatever.

    How to use multimeter

Well my neon must be the exception then, ive been using it for years. Meters fail too, especially the cheap ones. I have two Fluke meters one of which i used when i done a lot of auto electrics, i measured across the terminals of a car battery one day and got no reading. I bought a new meter...

    How to use multimeter

Instead of learning the use of a multimeter why not invest in a "neon screwdriver" its one handed operation so you will never be put in the unsafe situation of maybe getting a belt across the chest. Definately not recommended. The shaft of the screwdriver is insulated to keep your fingers safe...

My mum always insisted on me drinking a glass of milk if i done any household painting. It was a marvelous stuff milk it could also perform this stomach...

    Load of Brolacs

Zampa, you mean the link i gave isnt to the Brolac paint that permanently robbed me of my sense of smell as a child :D and had a 3 week drying period :D . Seriously what was that stuff made from, the job i spoke of was in the late 50,s or early 60,s.

Dont know how to cure your problem but what i have found is a clean roller is brilliant at getting air bubbles out, nice and gentle on the paper to.

    Load of Brolacs

Never thought i would hear that name again (Brolac) last time i heard it i was a kid, many moons ago. My dad had used it on the bedroom wall, a very strong smell as i recall and it took forever to dry. I never knew it was still being made. I cant give you any details other than above but here,s...

Can i tile straight on to plasterboard

Johnboy54, i should have said this post is a bit old the wall your looking at in the pics has been replaced by a new build. The plasterboard that has been used is only 9.5mm instead of 12.5mm and it looks like its not up to the job of holding heavy weight tiles. So it could well be having...

Can i tile straight on to plasterboard

What preparation is required to tile directly onto plasterboard, does the board need to be sealed. What about the joints, is bal-APD still needed/useful for this task. I may have to do above to save going through skimming wall again after cock-up by firm doing work.

Is there a minimum thickness for plasterboard when tiling

Yeah i get your drift TexMex but i dont fully see how these fixings are gonna be able to hold the two boards together. Ive done a search on the net to see if i could find any technical spec for them as not using them before i cant figure out there length from the pic. Holding the two boards...

I gave British gypsum a call and the girl i spoke to said she didnt have any info but she would go and consult colleague. The news wasn't what i wanted to here, she said they wouldnt recommend tiling on it as it may bow. Then advised me i should have used 12.5mm board. The only light that may be...

Is there a minimum thickness for plasterboard when tiling

As some of you may know ive recently had a plasterboard wall replaced in my bathroom. The plasterboard was supposed to be 12.5mm thick and have 2 layers either side, but only 2 x 9mm board was used each side. These boards were screwed to the timbers. Im a bit concerned about the thickness of...
