    Air extractor vent nightmare!!!

Drill and screw some large screw eyes to the wall, quite high up, both sides of the ladder and tie the ladder to them. Get a large person to put their weight on the bottom of the ladder and you should be fine.

    Grano tech?

In my opinion if you have a scaffold up already then it is false economy to leave the chimney stack up if you are never going to use it again. Even if you repair it now who's to say in 5 years it wont need more maintenence? Take it down and patch the roof over - it will take less than a day. As...

    removing old garden wall foundations

Chip some of the showing foundation away and you might find it's not the foundation for the retaining wall but one for the brick wall laid in front of it. It seems very high to be the found of that retaining wall. If it is then you need to underpin the existing foundation. Remove smaller...

    garden wall advice required

Why not just tie in the facing brick to the existing wall and forget the 2nd block skin? Use frame ties or similar. Founds depend on the type of ground you have but, as said, to copy existing (presuming no probs) would be a good start.

strange pipes in external wall ?

Yep, they look like flue outlets for wall hung gas heaters like the Baxi Brazilia. Would make sense that there's one in every room.

    Ensuite bathroom

At the end of the day if the OP does not know what they are doing when it comes to electrics then they should leave well alone. As our local building inspector says, a lot of the regs are common sense. They are there to help people protect themselves and others from injury or even death. Even...

    Ensuite bathroom

You do not need permission to install an extractor fan but if it is in a bathroom you need the electrical wiring certificated. Same goes with lights (and shower if it is electric). BC also need to be aware that you are connecting into existing drainage or forming new.

Is it possible to buy/make a 2 sided shower screen for bath

Two stud walls and tile? One stud wall along the 700 side then fix normal bath screen to that? As mentioned glass bricks walls would look good.

    Sky High definition picture size?

This is not right... Your high definition TV will only be high definition when playing blu-ray discs on a blu-ray player or watching broadcasts from an HD source. With standard DVDs you can get better quality with a progressive scan capable DVD player but only when connected to the TV through...

    Sequence of events?

Try it and see, but as 'yme' says it depends a lot on the final depth of what you have. If there's not enough and it starts to get churned up you could always get some type 1 delivered to chuck down. Whatever as long as you don't compromise the final level of block paving.
