    which boiler would you recommend?

Vaillant all the way. Worcester are overrated boilers that are awkward to work on

can MagnaClean collect large debris rattling in return pipe?

Pressure will rise and fall slightly with temperature it's nothing to worry about. I'd avoid a magnaclean, it's cheap plastic rubbish. It's designed to last the life of a boiler - 10 years - but boilers last longer than that, 10 years is the life of a crap boiler, yours will easily last...

    Ideal icos PCB

have to admit i laughed as well, i mean, 2 years out of an icos/isar pcb, that'll be some kind of record ;)

Isar HE24 no lights lights but still working

the connections that the user control panel plugs on to are thin strips of copper and easily wear away, the user control panel might be perfectly fine but a condensate leak in the combustion case can run down and corrode away the connections on the plastic case it fits on to.

    British gas contractor

there is a great deal of pressure exerted on to engineers to force them to sell but you normally find the lowest sellers with bg tend to be the best engineers as they fix rather than sell. high sellers tend to be either too lazy to fix or simply not very good engineers.

Powermax 155x - parts and repairs

i dislike them, worcester love to make certain parts on their boilers a nightmare to replace. for example a Highflow heatbank or secondary heat exchanger! the powermax is pretty unreliable, how many other boilers lock on on low pressure of 0.9 bar. if you have 1.3 bar to start with when the...

    Ideal isar,

almost certainly it'll be the pcb, it's an incredibly unreliable pcb black one = old version of the pcb orange one = new version, more reliable (hopefully)

Ideal Icos HE15 L-F intermittent fault?

a few newish estates near me are full of them, 1000s of houses. the developers hated the people that bought the houses so they're full of kestons, powermax's and icos, isar and istor!!

Ideal Icos HE15 L-F intermittent fault?

faulty pcb, faulty flame detection probe, faulty ignition electrodes, faulty gas valve, water in gas valve, blocked condensate, water leak from heat exchanger spraying on to the flame rectification probe, problem with gas supply to the boiler. a few suggestions that can cause LF. i've had all...

What Labour Have Done For Us.

from what i gather they give people on benefits everything and those that work and pay tax get absolutely nothing in return but hatred. are you too lazy to work? here have a rent free house, income support, free dentist, free prescriptions, free insulation, free nursery, the list goes on...

i second that as people love cold showers ;)

    Ideal logic

i think ideal will find it hard to recover their reputation with engineers but many are still fitted as they're cheap so people who don't care about longevity fit them for maximum profit. i've never known a make of boiler to be so badly designed and so unreliable as the ideal icos/isar...

Honeywell cm67 overheating as part of anti freeze programme

frost thermostat - on the wall pipe thermostat - on the return pipe to the boiler is the thermostat with the dial that goes to 30 on the pipe or on the wall? once the frost stat kicks in it's the pipe thermostat that stops it getting too hot, normally set to around 30 degrees so the...

potterton netaheat profile not staying on

why would you want a combi boiler? is the system running dry? i.e empty header tank or a blocked cold feed. if you can't bleed the rads then i'd check that first.

    ideal isar aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh

are the o rings not in the hydroblock o ring kit? about £10-15 depending on boiler

    vailant turbomax lukewarm rads

these boilers have a built in bypass which can get muck in them or become weak so the water will go round the boiler rather than the system

    (another) Ideal Isar fault.

LF can also be caused by a faulty gas valve
