x400 is pretty much useless in a powerflush as it's too weak, the instructions say can be in the system for up to approx 28 days (as far as i can remember), that shows just how weak it is. best results when powerflushing you need x800 (or fernox ds40) as said by the 2 previous chaps

even if you were to replace the standard vessel i'd add an external one as well because the expansion vessel, due to the hot water store, is ridiculously small and if you have an average house with 8 rads (i know you have 7) you need an additional one, if you have less rads but they're big then...

i remember a couple of years back ringing ideal (after replacing a pcb on one of these and it still didn't work) only to get told by them that if i ever have to replace the pcb i should also replace the fan as it's probably what blew the pcb, so it took a new fan and another pcb to fix what...

i've seen quite a few ceilings brought down by leaking o rings on push fits and numerous other leaks and that includes ones where the pipe ends were neatly cut and the fittings where perfectly fitted with inserts and collet clips. i've seen them fail within a year or two, it's not that common...

i'm saying the seals aren't as reliable as a proper soldered joint. joints that can move about have a tendency to leak over time. for example if you fit a part in a boiler and both ends have a rubber o ring you'll be pretty much guaranteed to have to replace the o ring the other end, you don't...

the trouble with push fit fittings is they look rubbish, like they are a complete bodge and the seals are rubber o rings, anyone that works on boilers knows that rubber o rings aren't the most long lived form of seal.

a reliability factor of 97% for ideal icos/isar/istor - i guess they wait and break down just over a year after installation when out of warranty and the pcb has packed up! customers i visit with them boilers normally have a list of previous call outs as long as your arm, 1 or 2 new pcbs, heat...

the gas valve might not be modulating/sticking on low gas. could be a faulty gas valve, pcb or thermistor causing it.

if you're on about how hot the pipework is to touch then there is no adjustment.

any one have any experience with perles power tools? just wondering how good they are and if they're good for trade use. in particular drills, core drills and circular saw

i've found holes in the bottoms of sumps a few times and the combustion chamber burnt through when the insulation fell due to the lack of the 'coat hanger' ionisation probes. an aav leak is obvious and should never be mistaken for a heat exchanger leaking

the heat exchanger and sump come as one unit, you can't get them separately so i'm afraid a new heat exchanger is the order of the day
